For many years, I have been a very loyal Marriott guest and have maintained a high-tier status with Marriott Bonvoy. Because of that, I have had relatively few opportunities to stay with hotel brands outside the Marriott portfolio. While planning this family trip to Bangkok, I happened to discover Ascott Embassy Sathorn Bangkok for the first time and decided to give it a try. What I did not expect was that one brief encounter at check-in would leave such a strong impression on me that I would later find myself personally looking up Ascott, learning that the company is headquartered in Singapore, exploring the different brands and properties it operates, and becoming genuinely curious about the philosophy behind the company. The person responsible for that impression was Scarlet, the Guest Experience Manager. After we had completed check-in and were about to go up to our room, we met Scarlet. Although our conversation was not particularly long, what she accomplished in that short amount of time was remarkable. She quickly understood that I was traveling in Bangkok with my parents and sister. She listened carefully as I explained the places we were planning to visit and, rather than simply agreeing with our itinerary, suggested better alternatives and different options whenever she felt they would suit our family better. Her advice was thoughtful, practical, and genuinely tailored to us. She did not simply provide a few standard tourist recommendations. She seemed to understand the nature of our trip almost instantly, especially the fact that I was traveling with my parents, and generously explained what we might want to consider and how we could make our time in Bangkok more comfortable and enjoyable. What impressed me most was her attentiveness, warmth, and remarkable ability to understand what a guest might need. Even more importantly, we actually followed several of Scarlet’s recommendations during our stay, and the experiences turned out to be every bit as wonderful as she had described. My parents were delighted as well and repeatedly said how glad they were that we had listened to her advice. In a way, my appreciation for Scarlet did not end with that first conversation — it grew even stronger as our trip continued. What also impressed me was her ability to communicate fluently in both Korean and English. But more than the language itself, it made me think about the hotel behind her — the kind of organization that recognizes such talent and places someone like Scarlet in a guest-facing role where she can make such a meaningful difference to an international traveler. That experience made me curious not only about this particular property, but about Ascott as a hospitality company. I have experienced many excellent hotels over the years, including highly personalized service at luxury properties. Yet the feeling I had during this encounter reminded me of the kind of care associated with the St. Regis Butler Service — and, on a personal level, it was even more memorable because it was so unexpected and so genuinely human. It is rare for such a short interaction to change the way I think about an entire hotel brand. Scarlet did exactly that. I came to Ascott Embassy Sathorn simply as a first-time guest. I am leaving with genuine interest in Ascott and its other properties, and that is entirely because one exceptional manager turned what could have been an ordinary check-in into one of the most memorable service experiences of my trip. I am writing this review because I sincerely wanted the hotel, its management, and hopefully Ascott itself to know how much Scarlet’s hospitality meant to me and my family. Thank you, Scarlet, for your kindness, your attention to detail, and for making us feel so genuinely cared for from the very beginning of our stay. --- 체크인 한 번으로 Ascott이라는 브랜드를 다시 보게 된 경험 저는 오랫동안 Marriott Bonvoy의 높은 등급을 유지하며 메리어트 계열 호텔을 주로 이용해 온 고객입니다. 그래서 사실 메리어트 외의 다른 호텔 브랜드를 경험할 기회가 상대적으로 많지 않았습니다. 이번 방콕 가족여행을 준비하면서 우연히 Ascott Embassy Sathorn Bangkok을 처음 알게 되어 예약하게 되었습니다. 그런데 제가 전혀 예상하지 못했던 것은, 체크인 과정에서 있었던 짧은 만남 하나가 너무나 깊은 인상을 남겨 이후 제가 개인적으로 Ascott이라는 회사를 찾아보고, 본사가 싱가포르에 있다는 사실부터 어떤 브랜드와 호텔들을 운영하는지까지 알아보게 될 정도로 이 브랜드 자체에 관심을 갖게 되었다는 것입니다. 그런 인상을 만들어 주신 분이 바로 Guest Experience Manager인 Scarlet 매니저님이었습니다. 체크인을 마치고 객실로 올라가려던 중 Scarlet 매니저님을 만나게 되었습니다. 대화를 나눈 시간 자체는 그렇게 길지 않았습니다. 하지만 그 짧은 시간 동안 보여주신 응대는 놀라울 정도였습니다. 제가 부모님과 여동생을 모시고 가족여행을 하고 있다는 점을 빠르게 파악하시고, 방콕에서 예정하고 있던 일정과 방문하려던 장소들을 하나하나 들어보신 뒤, 더 나은 대안과 다른 일정까지 제안해 주시는 등 저희 가족에게 실제로 도움이 될 수 있는 조언을 매우 세심하게 해주셨습니다. 단순히 관광지를 몇 군데 추천해 주는 수준이 아니었습니다. 저희 여행의 성격을 순식간에 이해하고, 부모님과 함께하는 여행이라는 점까지 고려해서 어떤 부분을 신경 쓰면 좋을지, 어떻게 하면 방콕에서의 시간을 조금 더 편안하고 즐겁게 보낼 수 있을지를 아낌없이 알려주셨습니다. 그 과정에서 느껴졌던 세심함과 따뜻함, 그리고 상대방이 무엇을 필요로 하는지 빠르게 알아차리는 감각이 정말 인상적이었습니다. 더욱 인상 깊었던 것은 Scarlet 매니저님께서 추천해 주신 장소들을 실제로 방문해 보았는데, 말씀해 주셨던 것처럼 정말 좋은 경험을 할 수 있었다는 점입니다. 부모님께서도 “매니저님의 조언을 듣길 정말 잘했다”고 말씀하시며 무척 만족하고 기뻐하셨습니다. 그래서 처음 만났을 때 느꼈던 감사함이 여행을 이어갈수록 오히려 더 커졌습니다. 한국어와 영어를 모두 매우 원활하게 구사하신다는 점도 물론 인상 깊었습니다. 하지만 제게 더 의미 있게 다가온 것은 단순히 언어 능력만이 아니었습니다. 이런 역량을 가진 직원을 Guest Experience라는 중요한 위치에 배치하고, 실제로 국제적인 고객의 경험에 큰 영향을 줄 수 있도록 하는 호텔의 인사와 운영 방식까지 생각해 보게 되었습니다. 그 경험을 계기로 이 호텔 한 곳뿐만 아니라 Ascott이라는 호텔 그룹 자체가 궁금해졌습니다. 저는 그동안 여러 훌륭한 호텔에서 수준 높은 서비스를 경험해 왔고, 개인화된 서비스로 유명한 럭셔리 호텔들도 이용해 왔습니다. 하지만 Scarlet 매니저님께 받은 응대는 순간적으로 St. Regis의 Butler Service가 떠오를 만큼 세심했고, 저 개인에게는 예상하지 못한 순간에 너무나 진심 어린 방식으로 다가왔다는 점에서 오히려 더욱 오래 기억에 남는 경험이었습니다. 아주 짧은 한 번의 만남이 한 호텔 브랜드 전체에 대한 인식을 바꾸는 일은 흔하지 않다고 생각합니다. 하지만 Scarlet 매니저님은 제게 실제로 그런 경험을 만들어 주셨습니다. 저는 단순히 Ascott Embassy Sathorn을 처음 방문한 투숙객으로 이 호텔에 왔지만, 이번 경험을 통해 Ascott이라는 브랜드와 다른 호텔들까지 진심으로 궁금해졌습니다. 평범하게 끝날 수도 있었던 체크인 과정이 이번 방콕 여행에서 가장 기억에 남는 서비스 경험 중 하나가 된 것은 전적으로 Scarlet 매니저님 덕분입니다. 그래서 이 감사한 마음을 꼭 호텔과 경영진, 그리고 가능하다면 Ascott 본사에서도 알아주셨으면 하는 마음으로 이 리뷰를 남깁니다.
