“Fabulously relaxing”

The resort is lovely! The room was comfortable, food was delicious, and I have a fabulous massage at the Spa. I enjoyed the free yoga class and pool. It’s a haven and a calm retreat from the busy markets in Chiang Mai. I’d love to go back!

Beautiful oasis away from busy city. Cannot overstate the lushness of plants and trees all around the resort. The staff are all very helpful, especially the lady on daytime reception (name sounds like ‘Pawn’). A lot of thought has gone into all the architecture and ornaments inside and outside the main buildings. Way from the There ‘are’ some things which are not so good: Our bathroom, especially the toilet itself, is separated from the bedroom only by a partly open wooden louvred panel leaving little privacy! Cannot understand why a solid panel wasn’t installed here. The bidet hose and toilet roll holder are awkward to reach whilst seated, requiring you to turn around to access. Could easily have been placed further forward. Bathroom again I’m afraid …the shower grouting is dirty; it should be occasionally bleached and water escapes underneath shower door making floor wet. Although the resort is some way from the centre of town there is a 10am shuttle each day and taxis are inexpensive. But it is such an enjoyable ambiance that some guests choose to stay ‘home’. Oh, and the restaurant is excellent offering a wide choice of western and Thai dishes.

I think if you are considering booking here you have to understand what KP is all about. You are not booking a large modern corporate hotel, this is a small boutique place that has seen better days and is in need of some TLC in various areas. However this is Thailand and this hotel feels very Thai. Upon arrival you will smile when you see the character of the hotel lobby, and first glance of the pool will make you go Wow,, as it is gorgeous. However when you look closely you may realise that some of the featured photos are more flattering than reality. I can only comment on the room we took which was actually one of the Villas number 1101. Firstly these villas do not have direct access to the pool despite a featured photo showing differently. Our Villa was a decent size with a large comfortable bed, but it was also disappointing in several ways. The decor is many teak and therefore very Thai, however this makes for a dark room and the lighting is very poor. The Steam/Shower is very old and whilst cleaned, it just feels grubby and dark. The room is poorly laid out, with the TV impossible to watch from the couch , and a challenge to watch from the bed as the netting around the bed blocks the view. These suites have an outdoor private patio area which also didn’t feel clean. It has two massage tables which I would even consider laying on , and the large patio bath just wasn’t appealing as it looked grubby. The tap in one of our indoor sink had been badly fixed and just not up to the quality I would expect, also better cleaning is need around corners and more attention to the tired worn teak. Now like many hotels in Thailand the main asset here is the staff, they are all friendly, smiling and trying to please. Obviously at different times if the year the leaves do fall from the many trees around pathways and the pool, the staff sweep these up on a regular basis, and even get into the pool to scoop leaves up that fall into this beautiful pool. Also be aware that the direct pool access rooms only have regular chairs on the small terraces, not sun loungers . In fact this is a major downside to this hotel, they have a large number of rooms but only about 18 loungers that are available to all guests so getting one is a challenge. Especially considering 8 of those are on islands in the middle of the pool that can only be accessed by getting wet. The KP is located about 15 minutes from the main areas of CM, taxis are easy to get via the Grab App and not expensive. So in summary we did enjoy the Thai vibe of KP but would not choose to stay there again. Anyone can take flattering photos of KP ( I did ) but closer inspection tells a different story. . .

The hotel is older. The rooms show a little wear. The 1st room they assigned me had water stains in the ceiling and black mold in the shower ceiling. The hotel is older. The rooms show a little wear. The 1st room they assigned me had water stains in the ceiling and black mold in the shower ceiling. I let the front desk know and they reassigned another room that was better. But the shower still showed some signs of mold. Not as bad as the other room. The staff is kind and very professional. The hotel is close to stores and restaurants in walking distance. The beauty of this property is all the natural trees and small stream flowing through it. If the hotel would update the rooms this would easily be a 4 to 5 star hotel.
