I had wanted to visit Kanchanaburi for the historical aspect and was having trouble finding day tours from Bangkok that encompassed the several sights I wanted to visit (especially Hellfire Pass which is a little further outside the town). Thankfully I discovered the 2day / 1 night package that included a stay in the Jungle Rafts Resort, and it was a fantastic option! I was picked up from my Hotel in Bangkok, taken to the sights on Day 1, then the resort, then again on Day 2 taken around and returned to Bangkok very comfortably. Perfect! The resort itself was a wonderful experience. Welcoming & extremely polite staff from the nearby Mon village (especially Paht who was my guide for the included local tours (Hellfire Pass & the Mo Village) looked after us well, providing wonderful service and tasty meals. The traditional dance option in the evening was great to watch, and seeing the nearby village and learning about the culture is highly recommended. One of the most enjoyable things to do was floating in the river! You head to the upriver end of the resort, pop on your lifejacket and jump! The fast-flowing river carries you nicely down past the many rafts and once you pass the middle point (restaurant) you swim back towards the rafts and grab one of the ladders on each platform, get out & repeat! Super fun and with the heat in April, VERY refreshing!! The hammocks on the front & back verandahs were incredibly relaxing, especially in the evenings where you could simply enjoy the peace & quiet listening to the sounds of the jungle and the flowing river. The room & all areas were clean & comfortable, the shower was quite good (yes only cold water is available and yes that is all you need!) Although the night was quite warm (it is the hottest time of the year at the moment though), this was a great experience overall, especially coupled with the tour option. I hope to stay again!

Quite simply, one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed. The rafts are meticulously kept, with beautiful flowers everywhere you look, delicious food and cocktails and lovely attentive staff. There's such a beautiful charm to the rooms being without electricity - after several days in Bangkok, going to sleep to just the sound of the river with my phone turned off felt really grounding (which probably says a lot about me, but I expect I'm not alone in my phone-over-usage.) We felt so safe and chilled out, too, Ieaving our books and devices and things largely just on the table outside our rooms as we breezed in and out to lay on hammocks/chill on our personal little river balcony. Don't miss the chance to enjoy Mon Culture. The tour of the village from Bli (apologies for any misspelling) was so informative and unlike anything else we saw in Thailand. The dance show of the night was wonderful, really special to immerse yourself in a culture I regrettably knew little about going in. Really appreciated the high effort that went into the show from all involved, especially the host himself and the wonderful candle dancer. Highly recommend while your there! Finally, the simple pleasure of jumping into the River Kwai and drifting with the tide (before climbing back on and doing it over and over again) was superb.

What a place and what an experience. The lighting situation could be slightly better at night but otherwise it was great and the staff made it super easy.

We spent one night at River Kwai Jungle Rafts and it was a very memorable experience. The setting is beautiful—floating on the river and surrounded by jungle—and arriving by longtail boat makes it feel special from the start. In the evening, everything is lit by oil lamps, which creates a calm and peaceful atmosphere. It’s worth knowing this is a simple, eco-style stay. There’s no electricity in the rooms and access is only by boat, so it may not suit everyone. We’d particularly suggest considering the access and facilities if you prefer a bit more comfort or have any mobility concerns. The river current is also quite strong, so take care if you plan to swim. We enjoyed the experience for a short stay, and the included meals were good. Overall, a great choice if you’re looking for something different and don’t mind trading some comfort for a unique setting.
