Just to be clear- I first stayed here when the hotel had just opened and have returned intermittently over the following years. I am biased, I know I love it! This year I came back with my family and I was delighted to find the same level of service, comfort and hospitality that made me love this hotel from the start! We were met at the airport and driven through the horrible Bangkok traffic to the oasis that is the hotel, and presented with lovely jasmine flower bracelets which smelt delicious and what a nice gesture. I love that we are checked in upstairs in our rooms. We had a junior suite and a twin room adjoining with a lobby and door connecting them to make a sort of family suite. My teenage children were very impressed with their room- the size of the bathroom with its mirrors and twin sinks, the well designed vanity area and the generous wardrobe space all met with approval. My husband and I love the junior suite layout with the living room with 3 huge windows overlooking the river and cityscape, you could sit and watch the world go by for hours should you want to! It is decorated in a classical style with Asian/Thai elements which I find very appealing. The bedroom is equally spacious and the bed very comfortable. I love that the controls for the lights and aircon are by the bed as well as a clock- so few hotels these days provide a clock and you have to rely on your phone. I love the vanity area in the bedroom - so well designed with lighting, socket with hairdryer and large surface for all your toiletries. I judge other hotels by this standard and they are 99.9% of the time lacking. The shower had excellent water pressure and the towels and bathroom amenities excellent. The bath is large with a small tv screen set so you can watch tv in the bath should you wish! We were on the 22nd floor but did not find any issues with waiting time for the lifts as other reviews have mentioned. We were all very impressed with the breakfast buffet, so much choice and constantly replenished, fruit, pastries, cooked breakfasts -both Asian and western, the egg station, salads, yoghurts, you really have a huge choice. You can sit inside in the aircon or outside on the terrace. We sat outside in the evenings but tended to stay indoors for breakfast. It was great that there were choices for milk- oat, soya and so on. The evening buffet is very popular with visitors and Bangkok residents so do book a table. We were impressed by the selection here as well, spoilt for choice! All the food we had was excellently cooked and delicious. We got the shuttle boat across the river which was a bit of a nostalgia trip for me, but it lived up to my memory, its a lovely way to travel! We also popped over to the Icon Mall which is quite extraordinary and worth a visit. On our return to the airport, a member of staff met our car and wheeled our luggage trolley to the check in for us- just part of the impressive Peninsula service. The hotel service is incredible, every single member of staff we met was pleasant and helpful and charming- it really was service with a smile. For me, the Peninsula Bangkok gets everything right. I really cannot fault it.
