So this was my first trip to Bora Turkey, and I didn’t know what to expect. Everyone told me it would be on par with places like Saint Tropez and the Amalfi Coast. It definitely exceeded my expectations. And my stay at the Le Meridien Marriott was wonderful. The rooms were comfortable and the restaurants that are at the resort served incredible food with a wide variety. The beach is fantastic and so is the pool, and the whole staff is friendly and most of them spoke English, though a few of them struggled, so it would behoove you to have Google Translate downloaded. Tho communication will not be a problem as most of the staff is multilingual. Some of my favorite staff members were Nasira and Kaan at reception and especially Nika the concierge who was amazing. She arranged reservations at various restaurants for me and facilitated a horseback riding excursion, which was a lot of fun. She also provided a rental car right on the property. Speaking of which, if you do stay at this resort, you will have a wonderful time, but I highly recommend renting a car. Either at the airport upon your arrival or through the hotel itself, which does have cars available for rent at a reasonable price. I stayed from July 29 until August 5 and I rented a very simple economy car (a Renault) for €75 (roughly $85) per day. If you are going to rent a car, you should know that the hotel resort is located high along an elevated mountain area that takes 10 minutes of winding roads up the mountain. The roads are somewhat narrow, but they are well maintained, but you need to be careful around many blind curves. If you are not an experienced driver, or get nervous on winding roads, you might want to consider budgeting for either a lot of taxis or possibly speak to the hotel about hiring a driver for the week. The hotel is wonderful, but it is situated a considerable distance from a lot of the main attractions in Bodrum. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to drive one way from The Le Meridien to pretty much anywhere in Bodrum. This can cost easily about €50 one way. But the hotel resort offers plenty of things to do, and is also kid friendly. I saw many families there. The main building is located away from other sections of the resort but constant “buggies“ (essentially golf carts) are constantly provided by the staff to drive you anywhere on the resort you need to go. It gets kind of quiet at night so if you are looking for after hours fun, you might have to either drive or take a taxi into Central Borum, where things go until about 1 AM, with some places later. I am a Bonvoy member and this trip was definitely worth the points. I highly recommend this hotel for your summer travels in Bodrum.
