We chose the JW Marriott Istanbul Marmara Sea for our honeymoon, and from the moment we arrived it was clear we had made the right choice. We were welcomed with the most thoughtful gift, a basket of fresh fruit, baklava, and the hotel’s own house-made chocolate. It set the tone for everything that followed. The hospitality here is unlike any property we have stayed at. Every member of staff is genuinely kind, warm, and welcoming, and none of it feels rehearsed! They pay attention, they remember, and they make sure whatever you need is taken care of. A special word for the General Manager, Mr. Okan Karadag. From start to finish we were treated as though we were his personal guests, and that care set the tone for his entire team. The food deserves its own review! Chef Faruk and his team are exceptional! The breakfast buffet is, without exaggeration, the best we have had anywhere in the world. The variety, freshness, and quality are simply unmatched. They have their own garden! On the evenings we stayed in rather than exploring the city, dinner at the hotel was on another level, with steaks cooked perfectly and pasta that tasted fresher than any we can remember. The Executive Lounge offerings were just as impressive throughout the day. Our room was spotless, and the views over the Marmara Sea are captivating. The design takes the JW name to another level. The rooms are beautifully furnished and styled, and every detail is considered. One moment sums up this hotel better than anything else. I left my iPad at a nearby restaurant and did not realize until after we had left. The moment the concierge team heard, they sent someone to retrieve it, kept it safe, and organized everything to get it back to me. That is the kind of care that stays with you. Here is the truest measure of how we felt. We had originally planned to move on and continue our travels, but we were enjoying the hotel and the city so much that we changed our plans and simply stayed. It felt like home! We could not have imagined a more special place to begin our marriage, and we cannot wait to return.

This hotel is great. The rooms are gorgeous and the view of the water is calming and beautiful. The staff is very kind and friendly and the hotel has a ton of amenities, including a beautiful pool and scenic spots for a drink or a snack. The lounge is convenient and has outside space that is truly enjoyable. If you’re traveling to Istanbul and know you would like a relaxing and welcoming place as a home base, I highly recommend this hotel. I would happily stay here again.

This is one beautiful hotel. Bedrooms Stunning large bedrooms with comfortable beds, powerful shower, double sinks & superb air con. Great balcony with decent chairs & fabulous views. The most proactive service team was housekeeping. Every time a member of housekeeping entered the room they did something. When I went back to the room whilst it was being cleaned I went out to sit on the balcony & the roommaid brought me out a water which was such a nice touch. When someone delivered extra pillows he turned down the bed & gave us more water. Exec Lounge Beautiful lounge with lovely outdoor seating area serving breakfast, snacks & dinner with local wines & beer served from 5.30pm to 11pm which was a wow especially as the price of alcohol was outrageously high. Food tended to be lukewarm on the buffet & the dinner options weren’t to our taste but they did offer a salad bar plus a hot fish, veg & meat dish. Many people dropped in for dinner between 5.30-7.30pm to enjoy the food offering. We even got to enjoy the Turkish wines! The big let down for us was the service in the lounge & the way it was run. We have experienced many JW lounges in Europe, Asia & the Middle East & the service here was very very poor in comparison. Service was reactive rather than proactive. The only night we were offered a top up of wine was when a manager appeared. However once he left the staff went back to sitting on their phones at reception & clearing tables without conversing. Many families used the lounge as well as business people & we seemed to hit the lounge when kids were screaming. I’d prefer a lounge in the evening without kids running around crying. We stayed for a week & at no time did anyone try to use our name, instead it took 4 days for them to stop asking for our room number. Pool Not the biggest but it’s a very stylish outdoor pool area with great views & comfy sunbeds. It was never a problem to get a bed. Service again at the pool was hit or miss. First day someone brought us 2 waters but nearly every day staff just sat on their phones & never offered water again. It was ok to go & get a drink but surely they could be offering service rather than sitting on mobiles. Location Yes the hotel is out of the centre but that was a plus for us having stayed in the centre last visit. We loved the location by the sea & even found a nearby residential area with superb local restaurants serving great Turkish food. The tram was also nearby for getting straight into downtown. All in all we would return to the hotel in a heartbeat. It was beautiful. It would be nice though if the lounge & pool staff could be trained to deliver better service to complete the whole experience. At the moment it’s a 5* hotel offering mainly 4* service.
