“Felt dated, but great price, location, views and free breakfast!”

We booked 2 rooms, 2 people per room, on Expedia for about $36 per person per night. We were primarily focused on location (Sultanahmet area), price, and free breakfast. If you consider an older-style place with touches of character as charming, than I highly recommend Emine Sultan Hotel. If not, I would recommend spending extra for a more formal hotel. LOCATION was perfect for walking to all of the top attractions in the area, as well as the Sultanahmet tramvay stop for further locations (Dolmabaçhe Palace, Beşiktas, Galata Area). You can easily walk to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Topkapı Palace, Cisterns, Spice Market, Eminönü (Bosphorus Tours), even a little further to the Grand Bazaar. The Arasta Bazaar and Great Palace Mosiac Museum were very, very close, as well as several scattered restaurants and shops which all had decent prices for the area. For shopping, the small shops seemed to have the lowest prices, then Arasta Bazaar, then the Spice/Grand Bazaar. We were usually back to the hotel around 9pm and it always felt safe. İstanbul, in general, has a lot of hills, this hotel is located on the bottom of a hill, so everytime when you're heading to the tourist attractions, you are going uphill and coming home, you are going downhill. HOTEL has 10 guest rooms, reception is floor 0, then floor 1-3 each had 3 rooms, floor 4 had 1 room and the dining area, then stairs to the 5th floor/rooftop. Our rooms had a bed, armoire, desk with mirror, TV table, night stand, ottoman and chair, and private bathroom (toilet, shower, sink, mirror, hair dryer). The hotel was clean, and every day, housekeeping came and made the bed and gave us fresh towels. We didnt use the heat or air conditioning, but rather left the windows open for a sea breeze. From the 4th floor (and even the 3rd), the views were great - Sultanahmet Camii (Blue Mosque) &/or the Marmara Sea. BREAKFAST every morning was from 8am-10am and homemade by the staff and varied by day; choices of breads (butter, jelly, honey, nutella), eggs, vegetable salads, olives, deli meats and cheeses, plus some corn flakes and coco-puffs. There was milk, orange juice, Fanta, coffee and tea. Plus some packaged treats (like cake-muffins, and wafer cookies). Plus, directly next to the hotel was a little convenience store if you needed any bottled water, soda, snacks, etc. Depending on the prices, I would consider staying here, again.
