We had a truly lovely stay at Tan Hotel during our time in Istanbul. The location is fantastic—just a short walk from major historical landmarks, making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing. What really made our experience special, though, was the warm and genuine hospitality of the staff. A special mention to Muharrem (the manager), who was always kind, forthcoming, and ever so helpful throughout our stay. His attention to guest comfort really stood out. We'd also like to appreciate Fatima, who greeted us every morning at breakfast with the warmest smile and a cheerful "Good morning!"—a small gesture that made a big difference to start our days on a positive note. The hotel was clean, cozy, and comfortable, and breakfast was delightful with a decent Turkish spread. We’d happily recommend Tan Hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul, and would love to return someday!

Excellent stay. We recently spent a week here with our 2 year old and it was the perfect stay. We have stayed before but this was our first time with the little one. It’s the perfect location for exploring the city as all major attractions, plenty of restaurants/bars and the tram are all within walking distance. Note that it is a little hilly if you have a pram, but easily manageable. The staff here are great - so friendly and helpful and every day a member of staff at the desk would see us arriving back after a day out and would greet us at the door to help us with our pram. We only had breakfast at the hotel once as we either slept in (life with a 2 year old!) or we were up and out for breakfast, but the breakfast we did have was enjoyable with various options. The room was comfortable and so cosy. More storage would be handy but for a week stay we didn’t really need to unpack that much. The room was spacious and there was room for our little one to toddle about. The weather during our stay was overall lovely, but the heating in the room at night was nice to have and the waterfall shower was lovely. Room was cleaned daily and we always had fresh towels with bottles of water also being replaced. The mini fridge was handy for us to stock up on cold drinks from the shop next door and to keep our milk cold for our toddler. Overall a wonderful stay and I’d highlight recommend to families, couples or solo travellers due to how comfortable it is. The location is safe and its location is perfect. We will definitely be returning to Istanbul again and will be looking to stay here a third time. Thank you to all the staff for helping to make our trip memorable.

“Some outstanding staff and a bad apple can make or break a stay. Choose the hotel if only location is priority .”

We have stayed at many hotels around Istanbul at different time periods . The location and the rooftop is special . A special shoutout to Rasul and Koroy and some of the senior concierge /manager whose names we cannot recall, who were attentive and knowledgeable. However our first interaction a specific staff member who greeted us at night was absolutely unpleasant. We arrived very late and he assigned us a dirty room ( we showed him and took photos) including bed sheets and towels. At 2 AM, we were cleaning the room and asking for supplies to clean ie towels, toilet paper that was wet , sheets dirty. Your experience with this hotel will depend on how often you travel , your familiarity with other boutique hotels ( we usually prefer boutique ones like Tan Hotel) and your standards for basic cleanliness. Hotels are bedrocks for illness and infection and Covid was a harsh global awareness around sanitation and cleanliness. It does not stop us from travelling or enjoying life (expose yourself to germs is a poor pass on putting health and safety in the back burner) . We asked the staff to see the dirty room and take notes ; we also took photos . The unprofessional response was “ do not disturb me or you could leave” . That was an appalling response especially for hospitality industry . They have to know how to problem solve and listen to customer in a respectful manner . Customers identifying visible problems and blaming the customer and calling them names “difficult “ because they cannot acknowledge the problem and provide quick solution is disrespect. Don’t be in the hospitality industry if you are impatient (within 5 minutes this staff member was showing attitude ). Each customer is absolute ; don’t compare customers to label them. Provide the promised standard and solutions as no traveller wants to spend time trying to fix any problem . That’s not a vacation. This staff member was a bad branding for not just the hotel but Turkey. I am being sensitive not to name him. Türkiye like many countries are about hierarchy and power . People who support like Rasul and Karoy and the housekeeper behind the scenes should be given many shoutouts. Management leads by example . The management finally understood us after the second day destroyed due to this midnight staff member not sharing the notes appropriately that he himself collected to pass the blame to us. To end, breakfast was a varied and fresh affair and the location is a stone’s throw to three main sites and the ferry is a 15 minute walk. Keep up the good work on personalizations and don’t blame customer for issues that could be avoided before the guest arrives .

Location is everything for this hotel. Restaurants and attractions are all within walking distance. Few stairs step up the hotel but staff are helpful with the luggage. With elevator, small but enough. Room is clean and comfortable. There's an otopark nearby for those with cars, but the street in front of the hotel has a time frame where cars cannot pass.
