Had a lovely overnight stay breakfast and spa the staff where all really nice and helpful the room was spacious the bathroom very modern both very clean we called to the drop inn pub for our evening meal it was delicious there is also free entertainment we had a really good night we had breakfast at the bar in the hotel as we had our dog with us the whole village was very clean and dog friendly did a couple of the short trails round the hotel which are very nice overall we all really enjoyed it well done guys! Would thoroughly recommend we will be back.

“Some disappointment”

We have stayed at the Last Drop a couple of times in years gone by and thought that the spa and pool was just what we wanted after this heatwave. I remember looking over the snow covered hills from the spa pool when we stayed one new year. But alas all you can see now is into the backs of peoples houses. The pool and spa were good but the men’s lockers were mostly broken so I had to put all the stuff into the ladies. The cottage room was lovely and clean when we eventually found it with some help from a member of staff, is the numbering on the signs a quiz ? We never saw accurate directions to our room and tried to help a lady this morning in a similar quandary. Because of the hot nights we left the windows open so that we could hear the delivery lorries arriving at seven o’clock ! …….. don’t book a cottage room on the Main Street if you want a lie in. We decided to put our bags in the car before going for breakfast in case the time was tight with the service and then check the room before we checked out but when we did it was already being cleaned even though we still had the key and had not checked out yet so the cleaner must have just entered the room and thought we had gone. Reading other reviews of staff entering rooms that the system showed as empty makes me thing that a door chain is necessary in this day and age especially as the cottage rooms are quite tucked away, the reason we couldn’t find it. Breakfast rolls and the eggs Benedict in the bar were ok, the fish and chips were overdone the night before. Overall apart from a few niggles it is still a lovely place, the staff are very good the place is very clean and the atmosphere is interesting and relaxing. I wish I lived nearer to make more use of the pool and spa in spite of the view now gone. The price was reasonable and would tempt me to return.

The surroundings of the hotel were absolutely lovely, with lots of greenery which made it feel really peaceful and relaxing. The spa was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. It had a lovely pool which, although it wasn’t heated, was great for lane swimming, as well as a really nice thermal suite with a sauna and aroma rooms. However, there were a few areas that could be improved. The room itself felt quite dated and didn’t have a fridge, which would have been useful. Breakfast was also a little disappointing, particularly as there weren’t many halal options available. We opted for the vegan breakfast instead, but unfortunately didn’t find it particularly enjoyable. There were also dogs around the breakfast area, which I personally found quite unhygienic and uncomfortable while eating. The service could have been a little more attentive too. At breakfast, we were given a menu and then the staff member walked away without explaining how ordering worked or coming back to take our order. Similarly, when checking in at reception, we were mainly just given our room card. It would have made the experience much smoother if we had been given a quick introduction to the hotel, including where the spa and breakfast areas were located and their opening times. We ended up having to call reception several times to ask for this information. Overall, the setting and spa were beautiful and really enjoyable, but the rooms, breakfast options and level of service could definitely be improved to make the stay feel more welcoming and organised.
