This was a birthday treat from my husband and we booked to stay 3 nights in a deluxe room. When we arrived at around 2pm, the reception was warm and welcoming, we discussed the rooms available that they may have with sea views. We were helped by a courteous young lady who offered to show us the room we booked and the sea view room. While the room we booked was a lovely spacious suite, it lacked any natural light so we rejected it in favour of the smaller room with sea view. The drawback - a small and quite tight bathroom. A bit disappointing as everything else was more than adequate. The sea views - Oh my - the room we were assigned was fantastic. Bright, airy and the AC was an added bonus for warm days and nights. The fridge was filled with water and all other amenities were clean and well presented. The bed was a little firm but wide and a good nights sleep was had on all three nights. We booked bead and breakfast and this was plentiful. The restaurant staff were fabulous and very professional in ensuring all was fine and dandy. The seating was a little tight at times especially if for two people but they did cater pretty well for larger groups. The range of food at breakfast could suit everyone's palate and this is high praise for a seaside resort!! Not all are great and often only offer continental breakfasts. All the same the bar area was lovely and relaxed, beautifully decorated and some of the staff welcoming and accommodating. The outdoor swimming pool and area was really relaxed and a definite suntrap for those who wish to worship the sunbeams. The pool was smaller than featured but it did offer the ability to swim trouble free if so desired, although, most times the pool was occupied with families enjoying their summer break. The one thing I think this hotel needs is a sauna or a steam room for adults - maybe in the changing room areas or somewhere close to the pool. Accessing the pool is a bit of a trek if you're coming from the other side of the hotel nearer to the Dorchester rooms, but the changing room facilities served its purpose. We dined at Tien the Thai restaurant next door as their options were more plentiful than the range at Brasserie Blanc. A most wonderful ambience and staff were wonderfully attentive. We really enjoyed our stay at The Marriott and the coast leading towards Boscombe Beach or Poole Harbour found us walking on most days. It was purely delightful to capture the sea air, sit for a while, the facilities on the beaches and the catering of public conveniences is second to none; not even Brighton caters for their customers quite as well as at Bournemouth beach. The hotel provided a surprise bottle of Prosecco on ice for my birthday and some chocolates to enjoy the vino with. While the Prosecco was lovely and chilled the chocolates were out of date by two months!! Suffice it is to say that did damper the occasion but overall the thought of providing this treat is what counted and I was truly grateful for the generosity provided. Overall, room service was good on 3 nights, out of 4 - yes, we decided to add an extra night's stay as we enjoyed the hospitality that much, but on the whole the room was always cleaned well and bedding refreshed. If an addition could be had at the hotel it would be a balcony to sit outside on or stand but the building is stunning and architecturally the external is as such that, to alter it, would spoil the history of its inception and beauty. The Marriott was a superb 4 night stay and we will definitely return.

Hotel has lovely location on cliff top, with easy access to the beach via funicular lift. The room had beautiful views across the bay towards Old Harry Rocks. Unfortunately the shower room was little more than a cupboard, with black moldy grouting on the tiles, not as expected for a signature room … more

Unfortunately the shower room was little more than a cupboard, with black moldy grouting on the tiles, not as expected for a signature room at a very high price.
