We stayed here for my special birthday treat. What a wonderful gem of a hotel. I would like to say it is in line with the Victorian hotel it is so, If you are looking for all the mod cons of a boutique hotel this may not be for you. The furniture is what some might say dated but for me it was in keeping with the hotel, Perfect! I was lucky to have the Austen room which was spotlessly clean, it had plenty of storage space, a comfortable bed with lovely clean, fresh linen, a well stocked complimentary tray and a large en suite bathroom with towels, bathrobes and slippers. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was first class with a small buffet area and then table service for hot meals, lots of choices, good ingredients. The nice, well stocked bar area with small snacks was always busy which was a good sign. I found most of the clientele was on the older side so quieter which was perfect for us. The Royal is in a perfect location with the Bath Spa station across the road (which can be a bit noisy depending where your room is but didn’t bother us,) and the city centre around the corner ( 2 minute walk,) All in all we both loved this hotel and definitely will be returning.

How many places does somebody take your drinks, breakfast and toast order and brings it to your table! No stone cold buffets here! The bar sells champagne, wines and beers at the most unbelievable value prices. Go quick before it changes!

Old hotel but everything was fairly well presented. Good size twin room, nice bar and restaurant with excellent food both for breakfast and evening meal. Position is great as it was right opposite the railway station and very near to all the shops and Royal baths. All staff were very helpful with leaving our bags when we arrived before check in and after checkout. Recommend highly.

The hotel is located right across from the train station and is very close to the city centre. The reception staff were genuinely lovely and very helpful. The rooms are a bit old-fashioned in style, but they were very clean. The bathrooms were similarly spotless. After checking out, we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel and easily pick it up before heading to the train, which was very convenient. The only downside for us was the breakfast, which we found disappointing. Other than that, our experience was very positive. If we visit Bath again, we would happily stay at this hotel again—though we would probably have breakfast elsewhere.
