Myself and a friend booked a 4 day trip with Caledonian and this hotel was our base from 20th July 2026. We looked at the reviews after booking and were very apprehensive and not sure what to expect. On arrival our coach of 42 got straight through reception and got our keys at super fast pace, staff on reception were friendly and organised and we were in our room with the kettle on before we knew it. The corridor on our floor smelt a little bit sweaty but our room was fine, one double bed and one single, ample storage space, a tv that actually worked and a tea and coffee tray with plenty of teabags, coffee and milk which is unusual in most hotels, there was biscuits and 3 bottles of water, and we found out later on the shower was lovely and powerful. There was plenty of clean towels, maybe would have liked a couple more pillows but thats down to preference, beds were lovely and clean and there was air con although it took me a while to figure out. We went down for tea which is only provided for coach trips and we had read a lot of complaints regarding the food, so we werent expecting much, tea on first night was 3 choices scampi, a pasta dish and a vegetarian curried rice dish, we had homemade leek and potato soup, scampi, chips and salad and a very large vanilla slice, now as these trips are very cheap and well worth the money the chefs at these hotels have a very low budget to provide these meals on and i found it totally worth the money we had paid, the food was cooked properly and served very hot, the next two days were exactly the same, homemade soups, always different, we had choices of cottage pie, curry, steak pie, quiche etc, definitly couldnt complain for what wed paid. After lunch they had entertainment on from 8pm-10pm, the two entertainers Tony and Ben were very good, they sang mostly old stuff but songs we were able to sing along to and a quiz which we were useless at. The staff at the hotel were all lovely, joined in the fun, chatted with everyone and made everyone feel welcome, and the bar was 2 for 1 from half 5 till half 8, another added bonus. We slept well in our room once we worked the air con out, but too be fair the weather was really hot the whole week. All the staff were amazing but special shout out to head chef Janet, Kelly and Emma and the staff on night shift who made us all feel very welcome and went above and beyond when a couple on our trip needed help. Sorry for the really long post but after reading so many negative comments i thought it was only fair to give an open honest review of the whole experience.
