I have been here 4 times now to stay and it’s usually very good but this time it wasn’t so much as the room we had wasn’t very ideal especially with the fact the tv wasn’t watchable due to its location which was away behind the bed on a random wall. There’s no tea or coffee in the rooms (which isn’t a major flaw for the price) the bathroom was fantastic looking however the bath still had dry vomit in from presumably a couple of nights before which was disheartening to see. The beds aren’t that comfortable but overall for the price it is t terrible and I’ve stayed in worse. We were woken up 4 times in the night by loud occupants outside smoking in the front and slamming doors. Also the roadworks outside at the moment aren’t nice to wake up to at 7:30am.

It's a backpacker hostel with carpets. It has all the facilities you'd expect & want from a Brighton hostel. And it's location is perfect for all the entertainment, shops, and public transport there, and much much more, alan

I don't know why if you want a quieter 4-bed dorm you can only book into a mixed dorm. Why would any female want to stay in one of those? It doesn't feel safe or comfortable... I don't know why if you want a quieter 4-bed dorm you can only book into a mixed dorm. Why would any female want to stay in one of those? It doesn't feel safe or comfortable... The alternative is an 8-bed dorm where you can guarantee your night will be interrupted by people coming in and out. The hostel could so easily offer 4-bed single-sex dorms, improving the chances of a decent night's sleep. The hostel is good in many other respects - it's clean, with a superb location, and the old prestige hotel building retains much of its charm. The staff kindly let me check in early on arrival and they have a decent luggage store room. The bar is the typical hostel type and the internet is intermittent. It is good value for Brighton but could easily be improved simply by offering single-sex 4-bed dorms. It's a good weekend option when hotel prices go through the roof, but bring ear plugs....

“Beware, ots a hostel not a hotel (there is a difference!)”

We booked this hotel weeks ago to go to a concert at the Brighton centre. Nice central location with great staff. That's where my praise stops. This place is a hostel NOT a hotel! A 1950s style metal bed with a rubber matters. The most uncomfortable nights sleep I've ever had. Sparse furniture but did have a tv. Bathroom was the only decent thing in the room. We booked through booking.com and thought we had booked a hotel only to be greeted with the hostel flags. Had I have known, I'd have spent the extra £10 per night and stayed in the travelodge behind the venue. As i said, it was down to booking.com for listing the place as a hotel and not a hostel. I'm sure if that hostels have a place for a cheap and cheerful stay but it's not for me!
