An amazing 5 star experience from start to finish. The guys on the welcome desk who whisked away our luggage and helped with where to park, glasses of prosecco at check in, the Spa was excellent with plenty of different pools, saunas and steam rooms, the bedroom was large and elemis products in the bathroom, the meal in 1789 was fabulous and Bethany was so attentive and topped off by a wonderful breakfast. Nice hotel, our room was clean and comfortable. The highlight is the spa area with indoor and outdoor pools which are really warm, other relaxation pools and steam room, saunas etc. Later discovered that only one pool has actual Buxton water in it! The restaurant was disappointing for me as the veggie options were extremely limited. The veggie breakfast was OK except for rather unpleasant sausages. No parking on site so unless you fork out for valet parking you have to park on the street 5-10 mins walk away.

A wonderful building, comfortable beds, mineral water pool and amazing customer service. I came away on my own to reset my batteries, it is a good place to go solo (it was my first hotel stay solo). There were places to hide and the rooms are comfortable and full of character. I stayed in one of the attic rooms, it was small but for 1 person, pretty perfect. They probably need a refresh on décor, although lovely the room did look a little bit tired and the carpet had bits of string and fluff, which at this * hotel you would expect it to be immaculate. The spa is lovely but got very busy. I was exhausted and was hoping to find a comfy corner to rest, the relaxation room was a little cool for me and the beds weren't that comfy. Also this seemed to be the treatment waiting room so constantly disturbed (albeit quietly and respectfully, at the end of the corridor by the treatment rooms is a small little warm cave with warm hard beds, this was the best place, lighting down and very restful, but only for a certain time as no movement due to the bed shape also could do with a blanket to put on the bed as they did get hot to touch and my scalp was now comfy. Overall the spa lacks a space with big snuggle seats, where you can climb inside (big enough for 2) and bundle up in pillows and blankets maybe with a fire noise and low lighting. A place to really zone out. In general it felt too bright. Turning down the lights or having different coloured lights would improve. The mineral water and infrared heat sauna being the highs for me. Sarah on concierge when I arrived went above and beyond to make sure I was comfy as a lone traveller which honestly made my stay and made me want to do it again, she even called my room to reassure me that the restaurant would serve me in the lounge so I could sit and read in peace (exactly what I needed), I would have loved room service if I'm honest, just restaurant food not burgers etc. Ellie my server at dinner time was equally as friendly as Sarah and welcoming. She again made me feel special not different. She advised me on sides etc, was attentive but not over bearing, she also give me some tips on the local area which I will definitely follow up. These two members of staff ensured my first solo trip was a success, kindness and compassion ❤️. I'm now looking to book another sometime in the future.
