We booked this hotel direct because we needed a twin room with a walk in shower and we checked the hotel had a lift when we made the booking. They did a great job of reserving us room 104 but we were very disappointed that the lift wasn’t working although the staff did help us getting our bags to and from the room, it was on the other occasion were we had to use the stairs which was difficult with my husband with his disability. When we got to the room there were a number of problems which when I called down to reception they rectified within 15minutes and offered us a complimentary drink as an apology. All the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive, couldn’t fault them, though the hotel did seem to be a bit understaffed. The bedroom was spacious and extremely well equipped, USB sockets by the bed, large mirror over the desk and desk light, tea and coffee, 1800W hairdryer, full length mirror, iron and ironing board, desk fan and extra plug in radiator. There was a desk chair and a bucket chair (would have liked 2 bucket chairs for watching TV). Our very minor criticisms are that the bathroom was small and cramped and really needed an update. The silicone sealant round the shower was black in lots of places, could have done with a small corner caddy in the shower to put shampoo and conditioner. But large bottles of hand wash, hand moisturiser and shower gel were all provided. Other minor niggles were the curtains in the bedroom were hanging off so couldn’t close them properly, the floor by the desk was soaked and the carpet was a bit threadbare in places. But beds were very comfortable and got great nights sleep both nights. (Our bedroom overlooked a full wetherspoons beer garden on a night England were playing in the world cup and we never heard a thing). Breakfast was buffet style and was delicious, constantly being refreshed with freshly cooked produce. It was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a hotel and the coffee was first class. EXCELLENT!! Wouldn’t hesitate to return, if they get the lift repaired.

We only stayed for one night but overall enjoyed the experience. The room was modern but the only downside was the bathroom, truly long past the need for an update. The bath tub is raised and very narrow. Some one with mobility issues would not be able to get in easily. The stay came with and enjoyable breakfast and offered a lounge area for a quiet drink. Does the hotel does have an atmosphere.
