Smashing boutique hotel in centre of town with lots of free parking. Friendly and attentive staff throughout. Breakfast cooked to order and some nice touch menu items such as ginger and turmeric shots. 'Home made' dinner menu was of high quality and the spotted dick with creme Anglaise and clotted cream ice cream was the nicest pudding I have ever eaten. Would defo stay again.

The Corinium Hotel is a lovely hotel. Its position in the centre of Cirencester make the purfect choice for the traveller visiting the Cotswolds. The service and food is first class and the addition of its own carpark is a great advantage as most hotels and towns have a massive parking problem because of us tourists. The Corinium was built in 1595 and for this reason its historic importance makes it impossible to make major improvements and for the older tourists, we found the stairs to our room a challenge. We chose our room but have since learnt rooms are available which we will request on our next visit, our third. Thank you everyone at the Corinium for another wonderful stay. CA Barry

Was really looking forward to my first christmas/birthday treat to myself, staying in a hotel with my dog for the first time, on Christmas eve and christmas day. On the plus side, it is very dog friendly, which was a requisite for choosing it, plus its central location to Cirencester town, which is lovely! The room was in the eaves of the hotel, and very quaint with beams and character, although the view from the window was a wall, so there was no view. I wasnt really prepared for the 3 flights of stairs either, as I had booked a room with a single bed, which i was told was on the first floor. but was suprised to get a double room, on the 2nd floor. which was fine, but i was concerned for my elderly dog with all the extra stairs. It was all very clean, and seemed very quiet. The staff were very helpful and polite. On the down side.. The mattress was kinda soft, so i had backache after the first night, plus i got woken up by a noisy family at 11.30pm in the next room, banging doors and talking loudly, with no consideration for any other guests. My dog then started to bark, as it was alarmed at the noise they were making, so was I was trying to calm him also. I was wide awake for hours after that! The hotel cant help noisy guests, but it was annoying. Christmas day, had fab breakfast, and was looking forward to a lovely Christmas day lunch with family. The christmas lunch was the worst i have ever had out anywhere. The pork cheek starter was a solid slab of tasteless meat, with a sprinkle of chopped sweet peppers, and what tasted like granola sprinkled on top. Couldnt eat it as it was horrible! The main had a nasty tasting turkey roll with bacon on the outside, and a lot of stuffing on the inside, which was also vile, so no slices of lovely turkey. Food was luke warm and included a strange large breadcrumbed, fried parsnip, which dominated the plate, and was horrible. Pudding was a pannatone dipped in white chocolate, which was solid, and also inedible. So i didn't actually eat much of the meal, which was £116 each! I was with family, so didnt want to ruin it further by complaining, although i did hear other people doing so. Christmas day night, I was again woken by the noisy family returning at 12am, running up the stairs like a herd of elephants, talking loudly on the phone and banging the door. Also again at 1.30am, thumping down the stairs and banging doors. So i had little sleep again that night, and after my lovely breakfast, i left, relieved to drive 3hrs home again, so i could get some sleep! So, my stay wasnt great, cost me alot of money, and has put me off staying in a hotel again, due to the nightly disturbances, and poor quality of food, which a complete novice could have cooked better. Very disappointing, as i really wanted to enjoy my Christmas break at the Corinium Hotel, but sadly i didn't!
