“Tired but clean”

I stopped here for one night, the rooms are in an annex next to the pub and although clean and tidy, they are in need of a refurbishment. I was in room 16, the room was really warm but the radiator had a valve so I could reduce the temperature. Tea and coffee facilities available. Hairdryer and iron available in the room. Bathroom has both a bath and shower, the shower was powerful but not very warm in the evening then cold in the morning, which was reported to staff. Reception is in the bar area and there is plenty of parking. We ate in the pub and both the food and service was excellent. They accept blue light card which was an added bonus. Breakfast is served in the bar and has a good mixture of both hot and cold food. Overall the hotel is fair for the price.

Basic hotel rooms attached to a fairly good pub. Positives, the staff behind the bar were friendly and welcoming when we arrived. The room was a simple no nonsense room. But.... There were giant gaps in the window, making a constant cold breeze in the room ( it took us a while to narrow down why it was so cold), and the heating is not controlled in the room. The heat kept going off and I had to hop along to the bar and ask them to turn it off- they said that there was a control switch in the lobby that 'someone' kept turning off. Our room was freezing for a substantial period of time because of these two things. Breakfast was included and on the Saturday morning it was excellent- perfectly cooked and served. Sunday I was really looking forward to it, but it was awful. The sausage that came out was harder than the knife, it and the beans had been microwaved to hell and back. When I alerted the server she did replace it with two fresh ones and she apologised- but it should never have been on my plate in the first place. The egg was also sad and very over-cooked ( 2 perfectly cooked eggs on Saturday, one very overcooked egg on Sunday). We ate in the bar Friday evening and I loved the beer (Hazy ale or something similar) but the pie I and my step father ordered was not properly cooked, they needed another 10 minutes in the oven- although the filling tasted fine, the next day, three of our party had stomach upsets. With a little more attention to detail this place could be a gem. The beer I had really was the highpoint of my stay.

The three star rating is a push. Only given because my pets accompanying me were not charged for. In the 70's the local soap was Crossroads and my single room 3 is transposed as part of that set. I did not meet Noel or Benny but they must have been around somewhere. Room was adequate,no atmosphere,quiet tired and cleanish.but, 1. The overhead sink light and razor fixture was not working. 2. Wall dispensers do not equate to complimentary toiletries. 3. Table would benefit from drawers and chairs from padding. 4. Snack and drink dispenser in lobby half empty. Simply put if you want a crash pad for nearby Coventry and Birmingham airports then this could be the spot for you. I stayed 2 nights over Christmas to visit family but there is zero chance I will be back.

“OK but not excellent”

Ok but not excellent A rather basic room attached to a green king pub showing its age and needing some repairs. Ok for sleeping for one night. Food was available in the pub but we didn't take advantage Plenty of free parking
