Booked a 2 night stay at this hotel, whist visiting a show at the NEC, purely based on previous reviews saying there was a friendly hotel cat. I was not disappointed. The hotel was excellent. Plenty of parking, friendly helpful staff, great Wi-Fi, my room was clean and well maintained, with everything you would expect. The room was even serviced and replenished even though I was only staying for two nights. Restaurant serves delicious food at a reasonable price. The bar is well stocked and again reasonably priced. Breakfast is cooked fresh to order with a huge range of cold/continental options to help yourself to. And the hotel cat, Bruno, is adorable and loves a cuddle. Will definitely stay here again when attending other shows at the NEC.

OK. An honest review. re our 1 night stay. We stayed here on a Caledonian coach trip to Birmingham Xmas markets. 1st thoughts were "where the bloody hell are we going?" its in the middle of "nowhere!" BUT! The reception area was spotless and welcoming. The staff member on reception was polite, friendly and seemed genuinely happy to help. Into our room which was baking hot (it was December!) with no apparent means to control the heating, so I turned the radiator down to zero! Room seemed to have been recently refurbished, new carpet ETC. The room was huge (imo) and spotlessly clean. After unpacking, we headed off to the restaurant for our included evening meal. The staff member was exceptionaly friendly and explained everything to us. The meal was 3 course, now as an honest review, this is where the hotel fails slightly! We both had exactly the same 3 courses. Starter, pate, very nice. Main, lasagne, oh dear! Lasagne is supposed to be layers of pasta sheets and mince, with sauce. this was a pile of MUSH! The kindest thing I can say was, the garlic bread was nice! Sweet, blackcurrant cheesecake, lovely! We finished our meal and headed to the bar, where we were served by, once again, friendly and attentive staff. We headed back to our room, sleep was OK, bed was avereage, as were pillows (just personal preference) Next morning, shower, brilliant, powerful and hot. Breakfast was a buffet affair, and was the star of our stay! Food fresh, hot, and constantly refreshed. A good choice of cereals, pastries, and full "English" items. An automatic coffee machine, as well as the famous toaster! Would we stay here agin? Yes, but make a more informed choice of meal! Highlight of our stay? The staff. Low point of our stay? Joint award, Location and Lasagne!

The staff and reception were excellent - always and all friendly and professional. However, the most important facilities were cheap and uncomfortable - the bed /mattress was noisy and unsupportive; the pillows were well beyond any comfortable use. The bath was thin creaky and slippery plastic; the shower was not thermostatically controlled, the room was unbearably hot, even with the radiator off and a window open; the doors slammed and the car park was unloved - which made the charge for guests to park all the more galling. With limited, thoughtful investment, the hotel could be as good as its staff!
