We’d been for coffees and the annual Airshow before and enjoyed the view and the friendly service - however, this time we stayed for a while, as our bathroom was being repaired and therefore out of action. No regrets(!); the staff were most helpful and we enjoyed food both in the restaurant and in our room. The serving ideas were nice - the quality of some dishes could have been improved (eg my husband’s minute steak and the Greek salad), although I was very happy with my choices (even a starter was enough for me on some nights). The fish platter to share is great. One huge plus of their food is that everything had a glutenfree version! It was helpful for breakfast to start at 7 am, as my husband needed to get away earlier than me during the week. A initial misunderstanding about the room arose, but we were able to change to another: very comfortable indeed. Thank you. One very slight quibble were the towels: suppose bathrooms can’t provide more than limited space, so why not phase out the huge bath towels and make them smaller - so that it isn’t a struggle to accommodate them on the towel rails?

We're regular visitors to the Lansdowne and always enjoy the comfort and relaxation there. With wonderful sea views and lovely walks along the seafront just across the road, the Hotel sits in a great location. The staff are very friendly yet professional and always helpful when needed. We've found the rooms to be very spacious and clean with modern bathrooms. A good breakfast is included in the rates which offer excellent value for money.

“Fabulous Hotel”

Lovely hotel in walking distance of town and theatres. Lovely outlook, with great views over the lawns to the sea. The hallways could do with an upgrade, as they are a bit scruffy. Lovely hotel in walking distance of town and theatres. Lovely outlook, with great views over the lawns to the sea. The hallways could do with an upgrade, as they are a bit scruffy. Nice to have several lounges to relax in, The staff are wonderful, well trained, attentivr and very obliging. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. The 1912 restaurant is good and the food is very good. Cannot fault it. We loved it and will go again.

Our second stay at the Lansdowne with a double room with sea view. Lovely homely hotel with friendly, helpful staff and spacious rooms. Comfortable bed, decent shower and good facilities, though perhaps the rooms are becoming a bit tired in places and there is no air conditioning. Stayed for the May Bank Holiday, so very noisy with the car show on the front and a noisy party on the Saturday evening. I would probably ask for a room at the rear of the hotel next time.
