“Lovely two night break”

Just spent two nights at the Burlington Hotel, we found the hotel clean, all the staff were friendly and efficient. Bar and restaurant prices reasonable for a hotel. A grand old Victorian hotel.

“Hotel good, parking limited”

Clean room, helpful staff, it's an old Victorian building so has its quirks. Car Parking is poor with only about 10 spaces, pay to park on the streets is expensive so do your homework before you travel.

The hotel is ideally situated for the town centre and harbour. We had a lovely room on the first floor with sea glimpses. The room was spacious and clean, and unlike some hotels these days was serviced every day without request. All the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. There was some noise one evening from a private function but at 10pm when we approached reception about it, it ceased. One small niggle was the breakfast. We chose to eat at 9:00am but when we went down there was very little left. The milk and fruit had run out and there was no natural yoghurt; the cooked breakfast items had been kept warm for so long that they really didn't look appetising at all. More milk and fruit arrived on request. I chose salmon and scrambled eggs from the menu but was told there was no salmon. We stayed three nights and it was the same on the following day. On the third day there was natural yoghurt and salmon! Obviously the delivery had arrived. Always seems odd to me to run out of food and not purchase from a local shop. If you take up an offer emailed to you prior to your stay make a note of what the offer is. I paid £50 for a £60 food and beverage deal as we ate in the hotel one evening. The bill came to just under £60 and I was aske to pay the difference over the £50! The receptionist said there are a lot of deals so wasn't sure; I wasn't asked to pay it and they didn't contact me subsequently. We paid a little more than we usually do for a hotel but thought it was reasonably good value. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again, but without breakfast perhaps.
