Always love a stay at the hilton Gateshead from check in to checking out staff were amazing, we had canapés jayne the host was very welcoming kept making sure everything was well stocked up, also spoke with Valentino on leaving the lounge was also very chatty, Spoke with a house keeping the next morning she definitely looked happy in her job I didnt catch her name though, Room was nice and airy even better you can have the balcony door open will definitely be back some point this year

After a stressful few months, I treated myself to a night at the Hilton, Gateshead just to relax and have some peace and quiet. I took advantage of upgrading to the King Executive Suite. I’ve always stayed in executive rooms when staying at the Hilton but this was something else! And the view from the balcony is incredible. The executive lounge was unusually quiet but that gave me the opportunity to chat with the lovely Jayne who was that evening’s host. What an asset to the Hilton this lady is, she was friendly, attentive, remembered previous guests and truly took pleasure in looking after everyone. I also want to mention Catherine and Belinda on reception who were also extremely friendly and helpful and made my stay such a good one. It’s a pleasure to see and talk to staff who obviously love their work and colleagues. I’ll certainly be treating myself to another stay soon.

Just spent a weekend at the Hilton Newcastle Tyne Bridge. The hotel is well located, being around a 15 minute walk from Newcastle Central Station via the high level bridge, or just minutes from the Quayside via the swing bridge. The hotel benefits from being in the quieter Gateshead area but has very easy access to Newcastle. Just a short walk away in Gateshead there’s a large Tesco Extra that sells pretty much anything you may need – very handy. I checked in and checked out of the hotel using the Hilton Honors app, where I was able to select my room and use my phone as my key using digital key, meaning upon arrival I could go straight to my room. Because of this, I had no interactions with staff. The room (561) was excellent – nicely decorated, recently refurbished with great amenities including: flat screen smart television, bedside sockets and USB’s, kettle with tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits, hairdryer, electronic laptop sized safe, iron and ironing board, plenty of storage space. The room also had a side view of the Tyne Bridge and the Glasshouse Centre for Music. Lots of lighting, air conditioning, plenty of sockets as well as new carpets and furniture made this a very comfortable room. The bed itself was good, the pillows perhaps a little on the soft side but I slept very well. The bathroom however had only been partially refurbished with a new tiled floor, but the toilet, sink and bath were all very well maintained, as was the surrounding surfaces and bathroom tiles. The shower was over the bath and a shower curtain given, a bit dated by 2026 standards but it did the job. The room was spotlessly clean and very quiet. I didn’t use the bar or the restaurant, but I did use the LivingWell Health Club located on Floor -1. The gym is small but well-equipped, towels and water are available and it looks out over a 15m long pool that also has a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The area is well-maintained, although given the amount of children in what is a small pool, the atmosphere of the pool can feel less like a Health Club and more like a Tenerife hotel waterpark, making swimming lengths a bit difficult. A suggestion would be to have dedicated family hours or adults only swim times. Overall a very good stay and if I return to Newcastle, it’s a hotel I’ll choose to stay at again.

Great quiet location, lovely staff and the actual bedroom and public areas are great. The bathrooms really need done, and this is in the pipeline so that’s great as the rooms will then be really good. Few little hiccups. Great quiet location, lovely staff and the actual bedroom and public areas are great. The bathrooms really need done, and this is in the pipeline so that’s great as the rooms will then be really good. Few little hiccups. There was no shower gel in the bathroom (was empty) but quickly rectified. For some reason the bin was on top of the toilet as well. Easy to do while cleaning! The TVs also have streaming functionality but not set up. Value wise I think it was a little bit steep for £125 a night room only. I am a gold member so got breakfast which was tasty. But quite limited. Overall a good stay, with little bits for improvement.
