The Melia White House is in a great area just a block off Regent’s Park and about the same distance to a metro line. The hotel is older and shows wear but the artwork is fun. There are renovations taking place and we were in a floor that had not been worked on yet because needed an accessible room.… more

The Melia White House is in a great area just a block off Regent’s Park and about the same distance to a metro line. The hotel is older and shows wear but the artwork is fun. There are renovations taking place and we were in a floor that had not been worked on yet because needed an accessible room. The staff are amazing. From the start the staff, especially Wesam, doorman in the lobby. There was an electrical issue, out of their control, which made it necessary for us to switch hotels. The hotel & parent company were very accommodating to help us move to another hotel in the line. The area has several of pubs and restaurants within a few blocks. Try DoubleJ’s Cafe or Madera . And there is a Tesco Express a couple blocks away. I will definitely use the Amelia Hotel group for future travel.

🛏️ ROOM QUALITY Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐ Room is lovely and clean overall, with no major issues in either the bedroom or bathroom. There was a small amount of dust on the floor, but that was the worst of it. Sheets felt crisp and fresh, and all surfaces were well maintained. The bathroom was also clean with no complaints. Aesthetics: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐ A nice looking room - modern, comfortable, and well put together. There’s a great balance of natural light from the window and various artificial lighting options throughout the space. That said, there are way too many switches, which can feel slightly overwhelming at first. It’s not at all obvious what controls what, especially if you’re in a rush. The colour palette is classy, with creams, navy, black, browns, and wood finishes. The only downside is the artwork, which feels a bit out of place and slightly cheapens the overall look. Comfort and Noise: ⭐️⭐️ Unfortunately, this is where the hotel falls short. The air conditioning technically works but is barely noticeable, which makes it difficult to properly cool the room. Soundproofing is also VERY poor...you can clearly hear neighbouring rooms and hallway activity. Noise from doors, voices, children, and even footsteps carries easily, and there’s a noticeable echo in the corridors, especially on the lino flooring. Housekeeping was still hoovering the hallways around 6pm, which isn’t ideal if you’re hoping to rest in the afternoon. ️Room Tech Features: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Aside from the weak air conditioning, the room is well-equipped. There’s a wall-mounted TV (appears to be smart, though I didn’t use it), a safe, and a small fridge. Both the safe and fridge are nicely concealed, which is a great touch - it keeps the room looking clean while also adding a sense of security for your belongings. Bathroom: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐ The bathroom has a lovely overall feel, although it is on the smaller side. The lighting and mirrors are particularly well done, and the Rituals products are a great addition. One downside is the lack of a toilet brush, which always feels like an odd and unnecessary omission...makes me feel sorry for the cleaners. 🤝 SERVICE Staff Friendliness & Efficiency: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐ All staff I encountered were polite and friendly, which was great to see. They greet you and make eye contact, which actually stands out in this area. However, there were quite a few staff members present in the lobby who didn’t seem particularly proactive. A large queue at check-in could have been handled more efficiently given how many team members were available. 🍳 OUTSIDE ROOM AMENITIES Breakfast: Didn’t try breakfast during this stay, so will need to assess next time. 📍 LOCATION Transport Links: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐ ️ Excellent location - just a 3–5 minute walk from Great Portland Street station. It’s also very close to Regent’s Park, Harley Street, Oxford Street, Regent Street, Soho, and Marylebone. Extremely well positioned and easily one of the strongest aspects of this hotel. Safety: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐ Very safe area overall and feels comfortable to walk around at any time. Vibe: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐ Lovely atmosphere throughout the hotel—feels modern and slightly luxurious. There’s also a busy bar downstairs which adds a nice bit of energy. 💸 VALUE FOR MONEY Final Conclusion: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.5⭐️) Overall, a solid stay in a fantastic location. The hotel delivers well on cleanliness, aesthetics, and general comfort, with a particularly strong sense of style and a great central position. However, the experience is held back by poor soundproofing and ineffective air conditioning, both of which noticeably impact comfort...especially when trying to sleep. Service is friendly but could be more efficient at busier times. A good option for a short city stay, but not quite as polished or premium as it initially appears. ✨ AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT (SUMMARY) - Improve soundproofing between rooms and hallways - Fix or upgrade air conditioning - Simplify lighting controls - Improve staff efficiency during busy periods - Add missing bathroom essentials (e.g. toilet brush)
