“Overall a good stay.”

We had a good overnight stay in the hotel. Room was fine - a bit tired in places but was spacious and had all that you needed. We had a good overnight stay in the hotel. Room was fine - a bit tired in places but was spacious and had all that you needed. The biggest issue was the aircon wasn’t working and although a fan was available in the room, it was noisy if using whilst trying to sleep. We had dinner in the bar area and the food was excellent and service very good. Breakfast was also very good. Good stay at a reasonable price.

“Very comfortable hotel”

Very nice hotel comfortable room and very bright and clean bathroom. Good to see a slip mat in bathroom. Only gripe I had was the bar was freezing amd wine £12 a glass i can get 2 bottles for that price in my local supermarket. Staff very helpful. Breakfast good nice to see a large mug for tea … more

Very nice hotel comfortable room and very bright and clean bathroom. Good to see a slip mat in bathroom. Only gripe I had was the bar was freezing amd wine £12 a glass i can get 2 bottles for that price in my local supermarket. Staff very helpful. Breakfast good nice to see a large mug for tea in morning. All in all had a very comfortable weekend there.

I stayed here for a work trip from 13th to 16th April. The hotel is set in attractive private grounds just off the A1 and is really nicely landscaped. My first impression overall was very positive. The car park is a bit of an odd one. Despite there being plenty of empty bays whenever I parked, there were multiple cars left wherever people fancied — double yellow lines, at the sides of bays, etc. Interestingly, they were all very nice cars, so perhaps a little “nice car privilege” was at play! That said, it’s not a major issue and didn’t negatively affect my stay at all — simply an observation. The staff were excellent and check‑in was quick and smooth. The hotel dates back to the 1960s, and while there are a few hints of this here and there (some of the carpets give it away…), the hotel generally feels well maintained and reasonably up to date. The lift, however, could do with a bit of TLC. I upgraded from a small to a standard double room and it was immaculate — bright, spotlessly clean, and very well presented. The room was well equipped with a large 50” Samsung TV and a very modern shower room with fantastic water pressure. The bed was a little firm for my personal taste, so I didn’t sleep as well as I might have, but that’s very much a personal preference rather than a fault. The air conditioning appeared to just circulate room‑temperature air. I wonder if the cooling is centrally controlled and only activated in the warmer months, as it didn’t seem to make much difference. However, there was a lovely upright fan in the mirrored wardrobe, which was a great touch — especially for someone like me who prefers a cooler room. The room also included a kettle with complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits, plus an iron, ironing board, and hairdryer. Housekeeping is refreshingly flexible — there’s no pressure to vacate early. If you want your room serviced, you simply hang the sign outside or call reception. I was more than happy to keep the room as it was for the duration of my stay. Breakfast was an absolute triumph. I genuinely need to know where they source their sausages — they were outstanding. The ladies looking after the breakfast service were also absolutely lovely. Evening meals: I’m genuinely annoyed that I only dined here once. The curried tomato and coconut soup was divine, followed by a chicken tikka masala that was incredibly tender and full of flavour. Don’t miss eating here if you stay. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. A few small niggles make this a solid 4 rather than a 5‑star review, but I would absolutely recommend staying here and wouldn’t hesitate to return.
