Lovely clean Hotel, all staff friendly and attentive, quite a choice of breakfast styles, continental, full English, ect. A good choice of evening meals as well, the view from the restaurant overlooking Fistral beach was stunning, watching the professional surfers, and the novices falling of their boards, the same view can be seen in the bar area, nice choice of beers and largers Tip take your phone charger socket, as the rooms don’t have charger sockets

“A fab stay!”

We live in Cornwall,but visit Newquay occasionally for a mini break.Booked last minute,we spent 2 lovely nights at the hotel.Check in was friendly and efficient.We had a standard room,window facing the back of the hotel,overlooking a flat roof (I think the hotel's restaurant kitchen?).This did'nt really worry us,as we knew we would only be in the room after dark,earlyish mornings.Loved the modern contemporary ocean type feel to the room! Our room was equipped with tea/coffee facilities,a bottle of water,and fridge.Bathroom was spacious,was abit tricky climbing in/out of a shower over the bath with no hand rails so be careful.Water was always hot though,plenty of fresh towels left for us.Towelling dressing gowns and flip flops left for us in the wardrobe which came in handy for the indoor pool.Spent a fair bit of time later in the afternoon's in the Dune Bar,which has spectacular views of Fistral.Just so relaxing with a drink,watching the surfers! We had dinner both nights in this bar,and both times,the meals were very nice,and reasonably priced for a hotel.Breakfast was in the main restaurant.Continental,various cereals,fresh fruits,etc with yoghurt,and we also ordered a cook b/fast off the menu.Both days,delicious.I only noticed after the 2nd day (check out day)they also offer bubbly and orange juice,so will try that next time!) We used the indoor pool,jacuzzi and sauna,all very relaxing and calming.Adults only hotel,which we love! (We usually opt for this when booking an oversea's hotel).Staff are super friendly and helpful! Please note on check in,the hotel requests a £50 per night deposit (unclear tbh if that is £50 per night or per couple per stay???)Anyway,we were surprised by this as its the first time in all our years of holidaying in the UK we've been asked for a deposit.Check out were informed it takes 2-3 days to return that deposit back to you,so just something to be aware of. Hotel is right across from Fistral,town is a 20 min walk.Lovely walk Pentire way,if you turn left out the front of the hotel and follow the track.We ended up at Fern Pit cafe,if you walk through the cafe outside,you can walk down steps onto Crantock beach.Amazing views,and beautiful gardens on the way down.If tide is in a small ferry boat can take/drop you back off the small jetty to the sand. £1.80 each way. In all a fantastic little break for us.Would we stay here again?Yes without a doubt. Just a suggestion...music in Dune Bar needs to be turned down a tad.We found it a little on the loud side,and although we were sat next to eachother,had to keep repeating ourselves.Enjoyed the music choice,but for a more relaxing chilled out vibe,just needs to be a little softer in volume.

There were no cups for water and the lights on the ceiling weren’t on which were lovely last time which added a sparkle

“Not the ‘Best’ Room”

I booked one of the ‘best’ rooms and although my view from the room was exceptional, it was obvious the room hadn’t been deep cleaned for a number of months (maybe longer!). I booked one of the ‘best’ rooms and although my view from the room was exceptional, it was obvious the room hadn’t been deep cleaned for a number of months (maybe longer!). There was dust all along the skirting boards, the light switches were all smeared, the top of the radiator was very rusty, and looked like a cup of tea had been spilt down it, the door from the room to the bathroom was very dirty, the bottom of the net curtain in the bathroom was very dirty, as well as limescale/dirty around the plug hole in the bathroom. I always strip the bedding from the bed when zi leave and on doing so, it was apparent tea/coffee had been spilt on the mattress cover and had been left on the bed - you couldn’t miss it! I made my way down to Reception to report my findings, although the Receptionist was very apologetic, the only solution was for me to sit in the bar, whilst they got someone to clean the room, after travelling from London, I needs to rest, and suggested that it could be sorted out the next day whilst I was out, sadly this was not the case and the room was left like that until I left. I have reached out twice to the Manager via email, and have received no response- very unprofessional!
