Hotel was booked for our anniversary as we were attending an event at the Motorpoint Arena. Fabulous location, parking available just off site. We arrived at the Hotel a little early, not an issue we were checked in and advised where our room was located. The room WOW, facilities were all present. Clean, spacious and welcoming. I had arranged for some items to be in the room, these were all present. Staff were polite, professional and present if required. We walked to the arena in twenty minutes so the location was close enough to be functional but out of the way for evening noise from the city centre. Breakfast. Buffet style, cereal, pastries and cooked. Fresh toast and smoothies. Tea, coffee water and juice. Comprehensive, tasty and professionally managed. Overall a great location, reasonably priced and clean. They do par-take in the Best Western loyalty scheme, if not a member perhaps sign up before arriving so you benefit from your stay. The car park is located just off site and is gained from a tight but passable entrance.

The location is very good but it can be rather tricky navigating Nottingham's bus lanes/one ways to get there. However once we finally made it to the hotel a lovely welcome awaited when we checked in & we were able to go to our room right away even though we arrived quite early. Nearby dedicated secure parking is a bonus but good to note it's not the easiest area to negotiate, down an alley way next to a pub & a very tight entrance. However - very good value at only £10. The room itself was quite compact but the bathroom was a decent size & great to have a full size bath rather than the shortened ones you often seem to get in hotels. White Company toiletries are lovely. The sealant around the bath was rather worn & stained in places - maybe redoing would be good. The bed was comfortable & complimentary water alongside a good hospitality tray was a nice touch. We had a problem with the card reader on returning to our room at one point, which the lady on reception thought sounded like new batteries when we reported it - she was straight onto maintenance to have them replaced. Great service. We were rather disturbed at night by the electric consumer unit in the top cupboard of the wardrobe - it buzzed/hummed continually. Are these in every room? (Ours was 607). Not noticeable during the day but really irritating ‘white noise’ in the quiet when you’re trying to get to sleep. Funnily enough when we tried a few things in the morning to see if anything was causing it - it stopped when we took the key card out of the light controller! Breakfast was in the very pleasant bar/restaurant area & we had a very warm welcome from the gentleman who was heading up service that day - possibly the Manager? There was a decent selection to choose from with the usual 'full English', small Continental offering of cold meats/cheeses plus cereals, pastries & fruit salad. Bacon was good quality but for us was rather dry - maybe due to being on the servery a while. We asked for poached eggs & these arrived quickly, cooked just as ordered with runny yolks. Unfortunately the coffee from the machine was not great - rather insipid for our tastes at breakfast when a flavoursome, full bodied brew would be welcome. Not sure anything can be dine to improve this. Though we didn't end up using the bar during our stay I did ask what 0% drinks they stocked, this seems to be limited to a lager & a cider. However since I stayed at the St James last year the cider has appeared. For a company such as Best Western a very basic 0% gin and perhaps another lager/beer would be a good addition to your guest offering at the bar. Hopefully this is something you might be able to consider in the future for those who don't drink alcohol or duty drivers who want something other than the usual soft drink. A very pleasant stay and the staff are a real asset at this hotel. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Nottingham.

Stayed for 1 night and was slightly disappointed with this hotel. The staff on arrival were friendly and the reception area was well presented with a nice smell. The lifts were very small and slow with some interesting design. The room was a good size with complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits (which is rare these days). The pillow spray was a nice touch. The bathroom was very dated and the toilet seat does not hold so you constantly need to hold it which can be a pain. The bath itself was tiny but I only needed the shower so wasn’t an issue. General maintenance in the room was poor with stains on most walls and cracks on the ceiling. Overall the hotel wouldn’t need much work to be a much higher standard but I couldn’t rate it any higher than 3 stars in its current condition.
