My experience was broadly very good. I would stay there again. I was there for a long weekend, coinciding with the Air Show. In advance, the hotel was responsive and fully accommodated the requests I made, which was much appreciated. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The whole place was clean and well organised, and most of the staff I encountered seemed to be making every effort to be pleasant and attentive to guests. The only times I felt less than satisfied was when encountering long and slow-moving queues at the bar, with no apparent management attention to resolving the issue, which happened a few times over the weekend. One member of staff commented that they hadn’t expected to be so busy, which seemed extraordinary considering the hotel was pretty much full, not to mention the thousands of people enjoying the event on the very doorstep of the hotel. It seemed like a false economy on Mercure’s part not to have staffed up - I certainly would have spent more there if they had!

“Great overall hotel but breakfast not good experience”

Gr8 location relaxing atmosphere rooms & all through hotel very clean topped up with refreshments every day in room stunning hotel over all only thing that let them down was breakfast seemed disorganised we stayed 3 nights & each one of those mornings we had to wait for bread as they’d ran out also plates when they did bring plates they were put into plates warmer but they were cold when they put them in we didn’t have time for them to warm up as we had an impatient 4 year old with us perhaps warm them up first Then the milk canisters were always empty so lot of hanging around waiting for top ups I know it was probably one of their busiest wkends being bank holiday but you would expect a hotel with what I would regard good standards to be on top of this shame it let it down I would return again despite this hoping for better breakfast experience

We have stayed in the mercure several times in the past and were so happy we continued to return multiple times a year. However, our most recent stay was rather disappointing. On arrival, the room had not been adequately cleaned. Food wrappers under the desk and by the window from the previous guest. Minor imperfections, such as a broken light that simply required screwing back in., and the armchair held some questionable stains. The room was just too hot no matter how low we set the AC. We headed down to breakfast slightly later than usual, (we brought our new baby with us), there was no one to greet the guests and check us in for breakfast, and therefore a queue was forming of other people waiting. All the guests just ended up sitting down anyway . There were no clean plates, and staff were asked by multiple guests for plates. Most of the hot food containers were empty, I asked housekeeping, who were cleaning the neighbouring room for extra towels, as we were only given 2 towels for 4 guests, and these also weren’t provided. The cleaning of our room during our stay was adequate, and not as we had experienced on previous stays. Used drinks glasses weren’t replaced, and the bed wasn’t ‘made’ to how we’d previously experienced. None of the bedside tables / desk were wiped clean. The hotel was fully booked, which meant we stayed in a smaller and more basic room than we would usually opt for. At approx £130pn for a small double room, the hotel fell short of my expectations on this occasion.

Lovely room comfortable bed if you slept in the middle the mattress needs replacing . Clean nice bathroom . The toilet is so low difficult with any disability . We paid for 6 nights with a £30 pp credit for food . Well where to start . Some meals cooked well . But it was pot luck who would be in … more

Lovely room comfortable bed if you slept in the middle the mattress needs replacing . Clean nice bathroom . The toilet is so low difficult with any disability . We paid for 6 nights with a £30 pp credit for food . Well where to start . Some meals cooked well . But it was pot luck who would be in the kitchen . Some meals were poorly cooked inconsistent and some not pleasant . Out of the 6 main meals we ate 4 were so poor. We would have loved to come later in the year but now we shall be looking elsewhere . The staff were lovely and helpful . The evening large groups were booked in for meals . The food took a turn for the worst .
