Mixed feelings about this place as it is situated in a beautiful spot close to the country park and all that has to offer. However, we had the misfortune of staying there during one of the countries "warm spells" that happen now on quite a regular basis. Sadly, the Southerly facing room on the second floor was illequiped to cope with those temperatures and became unbearable to sleep in comfortably. The window, that are a victim of modern day regs, opened a mere 2 inches at the bottom depriving us of the opportunity of letting in the cool night air. Why windows that open fully on the top half can not be installed is beyond me. Air conditioning is a must in hotel rooms if you care about your guests. Likewise, the room could benefit from proper wardrobe space and not just something that looks like ironing board storage. Also, a set of draws for underwear storage etc. it is not only reps and builders on a one night stay that use these places and living "out of a suitcase" does not make for a comfortable stay. The plus points were that mattress, definitely the best in the business and the shower was great. The view overlooking the golf course was also great , spoiled by the fact that the curtains had to be kept closed due to the heat! The breakfast offering was plentiful but the unlimited cooked had to be ordered stating how many of each item was required. It was pretty average once served with sausages with just a brown stripe on one part and bacon rashers firmly adhered to each other. We wish we had utilised the adjacent garden centre cafe that were offering a deal on 2 cooked breakfasts.
