Convenient location for an overnight stay in Peterborough, but the hotel - for me - let a lot to be desired. Let's start with positives. Great if you need an overnight stay and need quick access to locals spots. It's about a 5-10 min walk to Queensgate, 5 mins to the New Theatre about 10-15 mins to the Cathedral and Cathedral square. There is plenty of onsite parking compared to the size of the hotel. We booked an executive room. Very spacious and overlooked the front of the hotel and the heavy curtains certainly helped keep the room dark overnight and avoided street light from seeping in. While the hotel is relatively new (few years) the building itself is old and that brings inherent problems not conducive to a good night's sleep. There is no double glazing and the hotel is situated on a busy main road so you will hear traffic throughout the night. I cannot say if rooms to the rear are less affected by this. There is also no internal soundproofing. You will hear every footstep from the guests in the room above you (unless you're on the top floor) and doors to other rooms opening and closing. We were there on a Saturday night and I can only assume it is used by people visiting Peterborough for a late night out as doors were opening and closing throughout the night and into the early hours. Light sleepers - take ear plugs. I fell asleep about 5 am. There is air conditioning but we didn't need to use as in March and without double glazing the room was very cool. I'm fine with that but others may not and the duvet is not that thick. If you want to use the TV, you'll need to connect it to your smartphone and tablet - that's great as you can get more variety than you normally would on a hotel tv. But if you don't have a smart phone, you'll have a problem. The hotel advertises a bar. There is a space selling a small selection of bottled beer, wine and soft drinks. It is a converted space near the stairs - not a bar with a seating area. You take your drinks back to your room or you can sit outside where there are a few chairs/tables. We paid £128 for the executive room which I reasonable value. However, given the lack of sleep and everything else, I won't be back and instead will opt for one of the chains which although a slightly longer walk offer a consistent experience (again in my opinion)
