“Birthday weekend break”

Lovely hotel and the owners were fantastic..nothing was too small for them when asked. The location was great and is centrally located to the beach and old town. Rooms are modern and clean it was an added bonus to have a pool and good weather.

We stayed three nights here for a short break on the IOW and there were so many positives. The hosts Paul and Vicky are incredibly friendly and welcoming, the hotel is spotlessly clean, rooms are modern and comfortable, the small pool and sunbathing area is a plus and the breakfast service is superb. The location is good being only a 10 minute walk to the seafront at Shanklin and only 5 minutes to the nearby Chine Inn and Fisherman’s Cottage. We had a front facing with sea view room and it was excellent for our needs. Plenty of storage, tea and coffee facilities with biscuits and good toiletries. There’s no air conditioning but the front facing rooms only get the sun in the morning so the room didn’t really warm up during the day and cooled down quite quickly in the evening when you opened the windows for the sea breeze. Paul or Vicky were generally available to help with requests and will do their best to help with anything. For example, our stay coincided with the England World Cup Semi Final Game and although Paul has no real ale on the hotel bar, when we discussed to come back to the hotel and watch the game in the bar, he went out and got in extra bottles from the Islands Goddards Brewery so that the four ale drinkers in our party would not need to resort to the draft lager. The only slight negative is that there isn’t a great deal of parking, some spots to the front of the hotel and four overflow ones on Alexandra Road to the back of the hotel, and guests are instructed to double park and inform Paul or Vicky if they need to help you get your car out. Fortunately we had four cars in our group so double parked ourselves round the back to help out. It is a B&B hotel like most in Shanklin so you will need to go out for evening meal. And in this respect booking somewhere in advance is pretty much essential at any time of year unless you intend to eat in the fish and chip shop or queue outside the couple of seafront pubs that do not take bookings.

It was quite warm in Shanklin in July, but the swimming pool cooled us down. Nice clean rooms, excellent breakfast and a lot of fun for us Norwegian when the match between Norway and England was played.

Their generosity, and genuine kindness radiate through. They went completely out of their way to ensure we felt valued, safe, and completely cared for. You can truly tell how much love and dedication they pour into running this place. The entire property made us feel incredibly safe and deeply welcome. It has that rare, comforting quality where you can instantly completely unwind. It honestly felt like a true home away from home. We absolutely adored this place and are already planning about our next trip back.
