Great position from the station. Easy relaxed reception area, corridors were very clean and smelt very nice. The rooms are basic I guess that's what you pay for in a budget hotel. We did however have several issues, the lifts were not working and we have difficulty using stairs, but the receptionist Simon was very helpful and changed our room to the 1st floor. We then had another problem with that rooms toilet being broken and making lots of random noise. Again Simon moved us to another room which was much better. Breakfast was very basic, but OK. All in all good value for money, clean and tidy

This hotel has clean sheets and comfortable beds. The rooms are quiet and you get a decent night’s sleep. The continental breakfast is of a reasonable quality. The location is excellent in terms of proximity to everything Southampton has on offer. However, it is very, very budget, offering no luxury at all e.g. there are no tea and coffee making facilities, the rooms are very small and there is nowhere to store anything. Given the no frills, low cost offer, it attracts a clientele of vulnerable people who gather outside the building to smoke cigarettes and cannabis and to drink cans of lager and strong cider at all hours of the day and night. If you are on a very tight budget and just need a clean bed and a decent shower, this place is ideal. But had we realised exactly how basic it was, we would have paid the extra £10 per night for the neighbouring hotel, also branded Ibis, but not Ibis Budget.

“Adequate for a Pre-cruise stay”

We wanted an inexpensive hotel near the cruise terminal for 2 nights. We found this adequate for our needs. It was within walking distance of the bus terminal and to the cruise terminal. We were able to walk from here around a good part of Southampton. The room was clean and large enough. The bathroom was clean and the shower was hot. There was no safe in the room. In spite of what it may say, there is no air conditioning. We didn't expect a heat wave in England in mid August, and our room was hot at times. We had problems with the heating/cooling unit in our room not working so there was no fan or air movement. We did report this to the desk and it was turned on promptly. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel - we thought it was over-priced.
