my husband and I spent 2 weeks here and I found the hotel to be faultless, the bed was absolutely perfect in size and comfort. the staff on reception and in the restaurant were friendly, extremely efficient, helpful and went out of their way to assist in anyway required. we ate 5 nights in the restaurant and every meal was delicious and I have been a chef most of my working life. all in all I will recommend this lovely establishment to anyone 😊, the photos look like hotel is on a rd but this is in fact the private rd of hotel so there are drive by cars

I was greeted professionally and with a smile by the charming receptionist. The location is lovely, and I imagine it gets very busy in the summer. Even on a chilly spring day it was special. I booked a room without a sea view, Walden, and it was extremely quiet. The room is spacious but dated, and the bathroom is disappointing. It was dark and the beige lino reminded me of a hospital bathroom. The bed and pillows were okay, good enough but could be better. It was clean. There was light coming in from outside and under the door, so I did not get darkness in the room. This is often a problem in hotels and apart from anything else it must be costing a fortune. I had tomato soup and fish and chips for dinner, which were fine. Libby, my waitress, was excellent. She was friendly and professional. She presented my wine to me, and told me what each course was when she brought it to me. I have noticed that this is becoming rarer, particularly with the post-Brexit skills shortage. Having your food brought to you too often feels like a passing airdrop rather than a presentation. Libby did a good job of making an experience of dinner. Breakfast was good quality with nice back bacon and a quality sausage. It is from the kitchen rather than a buffet which is always better. In summary it was a good enough stay which could have been excellent with a less dated room and bathroom, the latter being the real let-down.

We stayed over a quiet few days in December. The hotel is impressive from the outside, very reminiscent on Bath’s grand crescent. Internally, it could do with a little refurb. The bar, restaurant and reception seems a little disjointed with a tiny bar inside the restaurant. Our room on the 3rd floor had an amazing view and was clean and well presented. Breakfast was excellent and served with a smile by Zee. Unfortunately, both encounters at reception were extremely poor. We were met upon arrival by an empty desk whilst the receptionist carried on with a personal phone call “out back”. When she arrived, she was less than interested and wearing a bobbly jumper not what you’d expect from a 4* hotels uniform. Checkout was very similar with a different, young lady being more interested in her mobile phone screen than us and treated us like we were an inconvenience for asking questions. A mainly positive experience but severely let down by the people who give the first impression and leave the lasting one.
