I went with three friends to attend a conference. We stayed four nights. We all had Plus rooms. The rooms were clean, comfortable, had a work space and a decent coffee machine. The WiFi was absolutely rubbish and I ended up hotspotting off my phone because it was so much faster. The room cost £204 for four nights and I thought was really good value. Breakfast was excellent. It cost £10.85 and the cooked food was all well done and the variety of pastries s, fruit and cereals was good (including GF options) Dinner was another story. At £14.85 not including a drink, for two courses or a main with a side, it was about twice as much as going to Spoons. The food was poor (although the chicken curry and pizzas were okay) and it took ages to come. Even then we only once got four meals that arrived at the same time for us to eat together. With so many good places to eat in Torquay, I'd never eat an evening meal there again. Finally a word about the staff. There simply weren't enough of them. Sometimes there was only one person on. To cover everything they needed to be in three places at once (reception, bar and front of house in the restaurant). But the staff were absolutely lovely. They worked like troopers, were helpful, friendly and definitely enhanced our stay. They are a big reason for this four star review and why we will stay there again next year.
