We stayed for one night only, but we enjoyed our stay nonetheless! The hotel has a very nice view over the hills and it is in a peaceful area. The atmosphere in the hotel is of a rustic, but elegant country manor, with lots of old style furniture. Our room was very big and it had a beautiful view on the hills. It was very clean and had all the comforts we needed. The hotel is an old building, so we could hear a few noises from the room upstairs, but nothing to keep us awake at night. There is a beautiful restaurant and a bar, where we enjoyed a varied continental breakfast and a more traditional dinner, both very delicious. The staff is very friendly. One important detail is that whole hotel, a part from the restaurant, is dog friendly. It made our trip much easier!

Arrived Early evening, was helped by lovely lady on reception, and she promptly advised me my room was quite a walk - she was not kidding, but being fit and healthy, it was nice to walk through the corridors and see mini models of buildings that are similar to those out in the grounds of the Model Village area. Talking of the grounds, lovely!!! Specially on a sunny evening, ducks, nice places to walk around and sit outside, lots of photo opportunities, but I was tired out, just wanted to drop my bag, go to the bar and get a quick pint, then chill in my bedroom as had an early start attending another record fair up in Windermere. Hotel ideally located for this. Room was lovely and clean, bathroom again lovely and clean. Bed comfortable, with nice pillows. TV adequate size for the room, so was able to sit on bed with my feet up and watch a film - no issues with signal, wi-fi was fine, room was very warm, but left the window open, to cool it own, as there was very little noise outside. It did rain heavily during the night and this helped cool room. I'm sure had I contacted reception for a fan, they would have had one, but being shattered after a hard days work, really just wanted to get some sleep. In the morning, one thing I did find was nowhere to drop my key and go. Reception area was empty, quite rightly as it was early, but I had no bill to settle as I'd paid up front and just needed to get off, but it was a bit of a trek walking round trying to find someone around at 7.45pm. So perhaps a 'Drop Box' for the key cards, might be handy. They do take your Credit card details, so for those wanting to get off, if you had any outstanding payments they could simply be taken off the nominated credit card. Anyway, all in all, a great stay, nice sunsets, well kept grounds, lovely staff, nice building, handy for Windermere & Bowness. Plenty of parking as there's 3 car park areas on site. I am staying here again hopefully in July and August, as doing the Britannia Vinyl Record Fairs up at The Marchesi Centre, top end of Windermere. “Weekend break in the Lakes”

Excellent all round! Stayed for 2 nights, great location, great service, I ate in the restaurant both nights, great menu. Good value too!
