Lovely stay. We had the romantic double room with a balcony which had picturesque woodland views with the soothing sounds of the stream brooke & birds, was just lovely. The room is small but perfectly kitted out & spotlessly clean. The bedding/towels/outdoor furniture are of a good quality and the addition of lakes toiletries was a fantastic touch. Just to note, a mini fridge is in the wardrobe which we didn’t spot until the morning we were leaving. Breakfast is good quality food and perfectly cooked, with little extra touches, such as served on a hot plate. All in all perfect location & stay. We will definitely return & I have my eye on the hottub suite already !

“Can’t wait to return!”

Stayed here at Glencree for 3 nights and highly recommend it for anyone who is visiting the area. Stayed here at Glencree for 3 nights and highly recommend it for anyone who is visiting the area. The B&B is in a great location positioned halfway between Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere with it only taking 10 minutes to walk to the village centres. It is warm, inviting and homely, a perfect place to come back to after completing walks and sightseeing around the lake. We stayed in room 4 which is located on the top floor up an ornate spiral staircase sharing the floor with only one other room meaning it was quiet and with the doors being fitted with individual passcode locks, private. The room was a great size with an en-suite and comfy double bed which was great for us to curl up on and have a cup of tea after desfrosting from our walks. If you wanted any additional tea, coffee, sugars or toilet roll there is a table on the landing of each floor that you can help yourself to which was a nice touch. The communication we had with our host was unique and easy. There was a tablet located in our room in which you can pre-order breakfast for the following morning as well as contained safety information, maps, locations of viewpoints and recommendations of local restaurants. On our second night we walked into Bowness-on-Windermere and visited Base Pizza which was recommended to us and it did not disappoint! Recommend this for those who love handmade wood-fired pizzas like my partner! In the mornings we a received warm and friendly welcome by the host himself at breakfast. Very friendly and attentive to everyone’s needs during breakfast and provided plenty of food options that are locally sourced such as the sausages, eggs and bacon as well as providing vegan and vegetarian options. We particularly enjoyed the fruit bagels as this was something different to start your day with :) We have already recommended staying here to many of our family members who are avid walkers as a great place to stay. Overall a great experience and we look forward to returning in the near future.
