My partner and I went to a relatives wedding in here and found the hotel amazing. The meal for the wedding was excellent and well presented. The staff were very helpful, friendly and very attentive. The breakfast was good, everything you needed. We liked the hotel that much we've booked it for my partners birthday in October, looking forward to be going back.

“Beautiful location.”

We had thought of visiting in Spring last year but were put off by the reviews at the time. However, we were aware that the hotel was shortly going to be under new ownership and thought we would look at it again this year. Reviews were much more positive (apart from the odd negative) and, as we always do, booked with the hotel direct. Right away we benefitted from not having to pay the £15 per night car park charge. By the way, although check out is 11.00am the car can be left until 3.00pm so you can enjoy another few hours in Bowness. Lovely modern reception in an atrium setting. All staff met were helpful and friendly. We had the Lake View double room (38). The view is spectacular. Room was spacious if just a little old style (in keeping with the nature of the hotel itself). The ensuite perhaps a bit on the cosy side and I think as we got older, the room would benefit from a walk in shower, although I am unsure whether that would be practicable. Buffet breakfast suited us down to the ground with a plentiful choice of cold and hot dishes. The coffee machine also worked a treat, not something you can always say about other hotels. All in all, an excellent experience and we will definitely return.

The room really needs renovation. It was advertised as “cozy with garden view,” but in reality the view was just a hedge. I understand it was a lower category room, but it was the only one with twin beds. The bathroom also needs updating — very little space to put things down, and there wasn’t even a hook for towels. For a 4-star hotel, I was surprised there weren’t even slippers offered to guests. The curtains were a joke, letting in far too much light in the morning. Breakfast was mostly buffet-style, with decent but unremarkable food. The breakfast room itself is lovely but could use refurbishment. What I really don’t understand is why breakfast only starts at 8:00 am that’s quite disappointing. Many guests wake up early for excursions, and it would make much more sense to open at least at 7:30. We stayed two nights and the room was never serviced automatically you have to request it, which is hard to believe for a hotel like this. Noise from the rooms above was very noticeable, even hearing guests shower. As other reviews mentioned, there’s a construction site with a large pit right in front of the hotel, so it’s far from the idyllic setting shown in the photos. The hotel explained that a full renovation is underway throughout the property. On a positive note, the reception staff were extremely helpful, kind, and always ready to assist. I’d recommend visiting this hotel once the renovation work is fully completed.
