“Surprisingly Comfortable Hotel”

From the outside the hotel does not look too promising but it’s a very modern, comfortable place to stay. Excellent buffet breakfast, comfy bed

I would stay at this hotel again , clean and good staff, breakfast also very nice. However , we initially went to the other Hampton by Hilton hotel by accident which caused us a problem. Two other guests we spoke to had done the same, staff at both hotels said it was a regular occurrence, in addition a taxi driver also stated he regularly collects guests to transfer to their correct hotel. I suggest you differentiate the hotels in the names i.e. 1. Hampton by Hilton (Jorvik) 2. Hampton by Hilton (Eboracum) so that guests are aware there are 2 hotels in the area.

The location is perfect for York - very near the station, but in a quiet road, and still an easy walk to the centre. The hotel itself is great. The building is very clean and modern. If I was being picky, I would say that the bar area lacks atmosphere & the food is not great. At the bar in the evening, I had the pizza option on 2 occasions & found them to be very basic & pretty dry. The breakfast was better. I went for the cooked buffet. It was ok, but not great. The hash browns are not great at either of the Hampton by Hilton Hotels in York. They are quite soggy & stale-tasting. There are also no mushrooms, which limits the cooked breakfast options if you don't want meat. It was only after I mentioned this to the staff that they told me I could ask for meat-free sausages at the counter. I checked & could see no signage at either of the hotel dining rooms to make customers aware of that. On a more positive note, the dining area was immaculately clean. I have stayed here a few times & I always see VICTORIA working so hard to keep on top of the cleaning. On one particular occasion, I saw her on her hands & knees cleaning the skirting boards in the buffet area because she noticed that it needed doing - she didn't just give it a quick wipe, she stayed with it until it was properly clean - incredible attention to detail. If I were to ever start my own business, I would definitely try to recruit her! The rooms are also great. They are spacious, modern, clean & kitted out with all you need. This is a great hotel - for the price, it's possibly my favourite in York. If it could sort out the food situation (& promote Victoria), I would recommend it to everyone.

booked a 3 night midweek break . Hotel in a very central spot so really handy for walking to all the main areas of interest in York. booked a high floor room which was large ,spacious but lacked storage space . very comfortable bed. modern contemporary bathroom.breakfast excellent. nice touch for guests with free hot drinks machine in the reception area. check out is 11 am but there is a luggage storage room to store your belongings safely and securely FOC.
