Holiday Inn Express York Date of stay: 24–26 March 2026 Room: 111 As a loyal IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) guest for over 20 years—typically 70–100 nights per year historically (now around 30–40 post-Covid)—I feel I know the brand well. This visit to Holiday Inn Express Grimsby was fully in line with the standards I’ve come to expect. Arrival & Check-In • The hotel was easy to find using sat nav and postcode, making for a smooth, stress-free journey. • Parking is straightforward, with a large car park directly to the front of the hotel. • The Hotel is located about 2 miles out-side of the city centre to the North East, but is just down the road from the Vangarde Shopping centre • Check-in was quick and welcoming, and the reception team made an excellent first impression. • As a Priority Club member, I was warmly acknowledged and offered the choice of bonus points or a complimentary drink — a small touch, but very much appreciated. Rooms & Cleanliness • The room was spotlessly clean, well presented, and in good condition — fully in line with IHG standards. • Fixtures, fittings and linens were fresh and well maintained. (See attached photos.) Dining Experience • Evening meal: The on-site menu was a little smaller than I’m used to at some Holiday Inn Express hotels, so I opted to eat out instead. The open-plan bar/dining area at the hotel had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere • Breakfast: A good balance of continental options and a cooked breakfast, all included in the room rate, which is always a plus. Check-Out • Check-out was smooth and efficient, with professional, courteous staff ensuring everything was completed quickly. Overall Impression A comfortable, clean and well-run hotel that delivered the reliable IHG experience I’ve come to expect. A solid stay — and I’d happily return. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)

Stayed here recently and overall had a pleasant stay. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well suited for a short visit to York. The staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, making check-in quick and easy and always happy to help when needed. Breakfast was good, with a decent selection of hot and cold items, and it was well organised even when busy. It set us up well for the day. One thing to be aware of is that the hotel is quite a distance from the city centre. It’s manageable if you’re driving or happy to use taxis or public transport, but it’s not ideal if you’re planning to walk into York regularly. Overall, this is a good value hotel that offers clean rooms, friendly staff, and a good breakfast. A solid choice for a short stay, particularly if you have transport.
