“Not bad”

Stayed here for a night recently. I came on the bus and there’s a bus stop directly outside the hotel which is very convenient from the train station. Stayed here for a night recently. I came on the bus and there’s a bus stop directly outside the hotel which is very convenient from the train station. The conference type room is excellent, spacious, cool in the heat and acoustics are fine. The staff were always helpful and kind. The hotel itself needs a bit of love. It’s very worn in appearance. The floors crest so much on the stairs that it makes the glass lights on the bannisters rattle. The bedrooms are spacious, but the bathroom is looking particularly worse for wear, with scuffs, marks and stains around and a could get hot sign edited because I assume someone found that it was just generally hot... The walls seem quite thin with it being quite easy to hear next door. Breakfast was really nice and the evening meal was also fine. If it could just get a bit of TLC it would be great for me.

“Clean, comfortable and good location”

Really impressed with this hotel. We attended for a murder mystery event and stayed 2 nights. The public areas of the hotel (lobby, bar, dining room) were really beautifully decorated. Really impressed with this hotel. We attended for a murder mystery event and stayed 2 nights. The public areas of the hotel (lobby, bar, dining room) were really beautifully decorated. The breakfast was good, decent coffee, fresh orange press, good hot breakfast. The pastries needed warming but apart from that we left satisfied. The bedrooms are a little dated but the facilities were good, tea and coffee making favilities, hair dryer, toiletries. A refurb would make a big difference but the rooms are a decent size, comfortable and clean. Most importantly they are really soundproof!! We were right next to the lobby and didn’t hear a thing. Lovely staff and a great location, a short walk away from the park and ride into York. I would definitely stay here again if in the area

“In need of renovation.”

Hotel looks great from outside but the bedrooms are so tired. Non matching old fashioned furniture in not a very good condition. Bathroom poor. No grab handles to assist in getting in and out. Water supply plumbed incorrectly as hot came from cold tap and vice versa. Toilet cracked and bits missing… more

Hotel looks great from outside but the bedrooms are so tired. Non matching old fashioned furniture in not a very good condition. Bathroom poor. No grab handles to assist in getting in and out. Water supply plumbed incorrectly as hot came from cold tap and vice versa. Toilet cracked and bits missing. No biscuits supplied with tea making facilities or complimentary water. Not 4* accommodation at all. Breakfast was fine however dinner left a lot to be desired. The pork served was not from a fresh joint but tasted as though it wad a pork roll as each slice was a uniform shope. Funny looking pig!! Eton mess as a dessert one night appeared to be using up the leftover breakfast yogurt mixed with frozen red berry fruits and a miniscule amount of meringue. While I appreciate we were a coach party and therefore get a different menu it was poor. Come on Accor you can do better than this. I will say all the staff were wonderful from reception through to those in the restaurant. I would advise a new chef. Sadly we would not return here if visiting Yotk again.
