We stayed at campanile hotel glasgow for 3 nights to see Take That in the OVO Hydro We were dreading arriving after reading the horrific recent reviews and had our selves ready for some kind of Fawlty towers nightmare hotel experience - but this couldn’t have been further from the truth. I’m very judgemental and expect certain standards and have left hotels before that have not been to my expectation or standard so this review is wholly honest and truthful. Upon arrival we were greeted by a smiley friendly lady more than happy to check us in early and give us all of the information we needed for our stay. Free Wifi (that is good constant and reliable) What time breakfast was available, informing if we wanted our rooms cleaned we just needed to put a wee card on our handle, reception open 24 hours there’s even a wee shop for cheeky snacks after a night out. We conversed with a lot of the staff during our stay who were absolutely fantastic and you could tell they are really passionate about their job and their hotel. From reception to bar / restaurant to house keeping nothing is too much trouble for them and they are all super efficient super friendly and hard workers they never stop. They even went as far as putting take that on the tv when we got back from the concert they were totally in tune with their clientele Now onto the rooms now ok the rooms could do with a wee freshen up of the decor but the rooms are perfectly fine, they are clean and adequate for the general traveller who is looking for a basic, good value, quality comfortable room for a few nights, crisp clean white linens, beds are comfortable with plenty of pillows, the quilt / duvet a little thin for me but that’s my own personal thing. The bathroom was spotless the shower powerful and warm plenty of hanging and shelf space for clothing. Lovely little flat screen tv and good lighting and mirrors. Yes there is 1 plug (2 if you count the 1 behind the tv) but I was able to plug my multi charger in and charge my phone and Apple Watch at same time. This is not unusual and I’ve found a lot of hotels high end and budget with the same issue. It’s no big deal you just can’t charge your phone next to your head you do need to get up to reach (Maybe not so much of a bad thing) My room was cleaned to a high standard during my stay and they even laid out the fleece throw I had purchased and 2 cushions I had bought for home it was a lovely caring attentive touch that you wouldn’t get elsewhere it really made me smile Breakfast is self service you can help yourself to as much or as little as you like there are cereals fruits a range of different types of fruit juices Tea / hot drinks my companion took the cooked breakfast and advised it was hot tasty and plentiful We had an evening meal and the chicken tenders are very tasty and I had the chicken burger and chips which I could not finish but it was gorgeous and I’m told the burger is equally as nice. They took on board my allergy and didn’t put a foot wrong. All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable stay and we would have absolutely no problems staying here again the hotel is right beside the OVO Hydro and a taxi ride into main shopping area (under £10) We do strongly feel the previous negative reviews are very unfair And unwarranted they don’t deserve that. Don’t book a 3* hotel and expect 5* in saying that this hotel deserves evey one of those 3 * a wonderful experience had at at Camponile hotel Glasgow. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. We will be back in the future.
