What a find! A super hotel, great location and terrific staff. We booked a superior room for one night ( unfortunately couldn’t stay longer) and ate at the hotel. A lovely welcome from Renee at reception and a spotlessly clean room. The food was excellent ( mussels were the standout dish for us) and reasonably priced. The American bartender ( apologies, can’t recall your name!) was both efficient and entertaining . Breakfast was very good with multiple tea and coffee refills and a wide choice; again, the waitress was cheerful, helpful and efficient. We had a great time and look forward to returning.

We had a delightful 4-night stay at the Seaview Hotel. It has good staffing levels which meant that we never had to wait very long to be seen to, whether at reception or at a mealtime. At mealtimes those serving us always had time to join us in a little conversation about our day, or interests etc.… more

We had a delightful 4-night stay at the Seaview Hotel. It has good staffing levels which meant that we never had to wait very long to be seen to, whether at reception or at a mealtime. At mealtimes those serving us always had time to join us in a little conversation about our day, or interests etc. The food was excellent whether breakfast, lunch or evening meal (their breakfast eggs are done to perfection so far as I'm concerned) and was always served exactly as ordered with no mistakes such as items missing. Maybe that is because every person who took a food order from us wrote it down; simple but highly effective. For all four of our evenings meals we were lucky enough to have Vaughn on duty and he looked after us with complete professionalism whilst evidently also having to be "here, there and everywhere" looking after customers in the Bistro and bar as well. Despite that, a little friendly conversation was never too much for him. Yes, as others have said, on-site parking is limited and a bit of a tight squeeze if you have a fairly large car; but there is plenty of free on-road parking available within reasonably close walking distance. The only slight problem we had (though not a deal-breaker) was that we had to run the hot water tap in the bathroom basin for some minutes in order to get hot water. That could be because we were at the far end of the building. But the shower and bath were OK in that respect. The guests lounge was the icing on the cake; a lovely relaxing, comfortable place to have a quiet read, play games or just chat with friends over a cup of tea or a beer after a long hard day of being on holiday! In summary, we had a lovely time here and could not fault it.

Booked an evening meal in The Bistro. Lovely setting, friendly staff, reasonable prices and good service. But we left disappointed, because the food was poor. Booked an evening meal in The Bistro. Lovely setting, friendly staff, reasonable prices and good service. But we left disappointed, because the food was poor. Beer-battered haddock is pretty basic, so it must be done well. Too much batter, overcooked and hard (not crispy) coating on thin, watery bland fish. Tartare sauce had a crust where it had been left out too long. I took the 10% service charge off and explained not because of the service, but the food quality. A shame, must really do the simple things right. Further, it felt awkward having kitchen staff walking through the Bistro all the time fetching food from the freezers and pantry etc. I didn't feel this was helpful in front of dining customers.
