We enjoyed a fabulous lunch in the hotel on Thursday - food, service and wine all absolutely 5*. The staff acknowledged my birthday and made us feel special. I hadn't realised that the hotel had reopened about 4 weeks ago. There are still on-going refurbishments but these are unobtrusive. the all day menu was simple, but the quality of the food was superb. We will certainly be back.

We chose The Grand Hotel Leicester by The Unlimited Collection for a short city break and came away pleasantly surprised. If you appreciate architecture and a sense of place, this hotel delivers in a way that many modern chain properties simply can’t. The building itself is impressive high ceilings, period detailing and a real sense of history yet it doesn’t feel dated. The recent refurbishment has clearly lifted the overall standard. The interiors feel brighter and more contemporary, while still respecting the character of the property. It strikes a good balance between heritage and comfort. Our room was well sized, immaculately clean and thoughtfully equipped. The bed was very comfortable, the Wi-Fi fast and reliable, and the flat-screen TV and tea/coffee facilities were welcome additions after a day exploring. The bathroom felt modern and fresh, with good water pressure in the shower and quality complimentary toiletries small details that do make a difference. Location is another strong point. Being centrally positioned makes it easy to walk to restaurants, shops and the station, which is particularly convenient if you’re travelling by train. One small note breakfast can get busy during peak periods, so arriving a little earlier might make for a more relaxed start to the day. That said, the overall experience more than outweighed this minor point. There are certainly cheaper hotels in Leicester, but this one feels a tier above in terms of atmosphere and comfort. For us, it was worth the slightly higher rate for a stay that felt more distinctive and memorable. Would happily return.

We had a really enjoyable stay at the Grand Hotel and would definitely return. Our room was exceptionally clean and clearly very well prepared—Kannika had done a fantastic job getting everything ready for our arrival. The room itself looked recently refurbished, with a fresh and modern feel that made it very comfortable. Despite being in the city centre, which can be quite noisy at night, we slept incredibly well. The windows did a great job of blocking out the outside noise, and we had two wonderfully restful nights with no disturbance from other guests either. Breakfast was another highlight of our stay. The cooked breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the service made it even better. The lady who served us, I believe her name was Anya, was delightful—friendly, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant, which made the experience even more enjoyable. There was a small inconvenience during our stay as the main lift wasn’t working, meaning we had to use the back lift. However, the reception team handled this very kindly by waiving the parking fee, which we really appreciated. It’s clear that the hotel is in the process of being updated. The main entrance and restaurant have been refurbished to a very high standard, while some areas like the corridors and staircases are still undergoing improvements. That said, this didn’t impact our stay at all, especially given how comfortable and well-finished our room was. Overall, a very positive experience—we would happily stay here again.
