“Amazing”

I came here for the first time today and came across Daniel who served me at the bar, he’s the most polite, warming, and welcoming person I’ve met at the 50+ pubs bars and hotels I’ve been to. The best way to describe him is as he treats you like his family. Big credit to Daniel

In the restaurant, we experienced obviously a period of changes in the menu, too many things on the (not too big!) menu were not available, which was really a shame, so eating there can get kind of boring. Lovely: horse riding and golfing option. Pleasant people.

The hotel itself is lovely and the staff are always very polite, but unfortunately my recent visit highlighted a lack of common-sense processes that led to poor customer service. I was at the hotel having a beer while waiting for my son at a sporting event. I asked for the table to be cleared, as there were empty drinks and other items left by the previous guests. The waiter told me he was working in the restaurant rather than the bar, so he couldn’t clear the table himself, but said he would ask someone else to come over. Around 10 minutes later, someone did arrive and cleared the drinks and bottles, but left anything that appeared to relate to the restaurant, seemingly because it was not their responsibility. This meant items were still left on the table, as shown in the photo, and in the end I picked them up and returned them to the bar myself. I appreciate that staff may have different sections or responsibilities, but from a customer’s point of view, this kind of rigid process does not create a good experience. A guest should not have to navigate whether something belongs to the bar or restaurant area just to get a table cleared. It was disappointing because my previous experiences here have normally been very good, and the hotel does have a lot going for it. Hopefully this is something that can be reviewed, as a little more joined-up service would make a big difference.
