We visited for drinks and food in the bar. It was a nice day so we sat outside in the level 3 outside bar area. Food was lovely, and we thought quite cheap. Cocktails were great also. I would say that not the place to go if you are in a hurry, its quite relaxed and on a nice day the staff are very busy.

“Lovely Experience”

We had a really lovely experience at the Sunborn Yacht. A special mention to Joyce, our bar host, who was absolutely brilliant — always smiling, bubbly, attentive and made us feel very welcome. We had a really lovely experience at the Sunborn Yacht. A special mention to Joyce, our bar host, who was absolutely brilliant — always smiling, bubbly, attentive and made us feel very welcome. The other members of staff were also fantastic. They were thoughtful enough to let us know that the fish and chips wasn’t halal and offered us a halal option instead, which was really helpful and appreciated. The only slight disappointment was that one member of staff seemed quite distracted when we tried to get her attention on several occasions. Even those around us noticed that we were trying to call her over, but unfortunately she didn’t respond. That said, she was the only staff member we experienced this with, and the rest of the team were attentive and friendly. Overall, we had a lovely experience and would happily visit again.

We stayed for just one night but wanted a decent room, and as it was a Birthday present we took an executive room with balcony on the fourth floor. Initial impressions were good and once we were allocated our room it was impressive more like a State room than a cabin. The AC was working but like many hotels failed to respond to the temp settings. Luckily we had asked for a fan which was a great asset producing cooler air😄 wanted to use the upper deck but unfortunately it wasn’t available due to a private party. The outside deck was very hot but unfortunately there was no shade so we decided to seek a drink elsewhere. You have to appreciate that this location is close to the Excel Centre and as such seems to have limited access to restaurants and bars. Dinner was booked for 7.30pm and according to the website men are required to wear trousers and a suitable shirt - no shorts. Now if you are a traveller in hot weather this generally means different shoes, socks, trousers etc all to be packed into an overnight shared case. We were shown to a lovely table with great views of Docklanfs but I noticed at least five other gentlemen in shorts and trainers. If you’re going to have a dress code stick to it.😡 We were then offered the À la Carte menus wherein the website offered an alternative three course set meal at £60 pp available Monday to Thursday. We were there Thursday but told this offer was not on. 😡 Drinks were ordered with my wife asking for a glass of Pinot which she noticed came from a bottle on the bar - not very chilled. My Bacardi and Coke came ice in another glass😳The food is very good but in my opinion overpriced but good and tasty. Liver and Onions with Calcannon and red wine jus. Smoked salmon starter and pea and truffle soup. All servers very nicely except the liver came with a bunch of chips🤷‍♂️🥴 A reasonable nights sleep but if we didn’t have the fan it would have been difficult as the AC didn’t work that well Breakfast was a bit of a mixed bag. Very little food was hot, sausages very tasty, fried eggs you could bounce off the floor, cold scrambled eggs, run out of tomatoes, cold beans. It wasn’t very good. Overall it was a hotel trying to be something it wasn’t which is a shame because it has the potential to be very good. Fix the issues and update the Website regarding dress code and specials and it would have been a very different experience. Enjoyed the stay but won’t be rushing back😕
