Just returned from a one night stay while seeing Hollywood Vampires at the OAT. Absolutely ideal location, literally a 5 minute walk from the theatre. Checked in online the day of travelling so was able to get our room key with the minimum of fuss, but the staff were very friendly and helpful regardless. The room was basic but comfortable, and included a small fridge which was a welcome surprise. Also a Tassimo machine which we didn't use, but regular tea and coffee facilities were provided (and gratefully used!) Paid extra for breakfast in the morning, served buffet style but only felt the need to have one plate of full English. Reasonably priced and a decent amount of options. Not the greatest quality of food but perfectly fine. One special mention to the 90s Coca-Cola machine in the lobby which still utilized the push coin slot method of payment - made me smile and good to see that technology hasn't overtaken absolutely everything these days. All in all a lovely stay and will definitely book here again if seeing a show at the Open Air Theatre in the future.

It was with trepidation we booked this hotel but we were looking for somewhere with a good sea view and a lovely sunrise.for this it was the perfect place. The room was very clean and well appointed, we were not af all disappointed. All the staff we came across were lovely and friendly. We paid extra for the breakfast which was very good and worth while. I would have no hesitation returning at all

We needed a hotel in Scarborough to enable us to see James Taylor in concert and the Open Air Theatre venue was close to the hotel which advertised itself online as 'dog friendly'. First sight of the hotel - rear elevation - made us think we had somehow arrived in Beirut - the exterior and other elevations clearly need some TLC - however, in fairness, the interior generally and our room were both good. Basically we had two issues:- Not surprisingly for a Victorian building car parking was limited - and what we were not told on booking is that the spaces that existed could be pre-booked - so we rolled up to find all spaces marked as reserved - even though for the two nights and days we were there several spaces remained unoccupied throughout. The roads round about were 9 to 5 (12 to 5 on Sundays) restricted to two hours (using a clock pass like the disabled driver type provided by the hotel on request) with no return for an hour, so one is reduced to a day of musical chairs rather than being able to forget the car and concentrate on holidaymaking; The real sickener was arriving at the dog-friendly hotel to be told that dogs:- a) could not be left in the room for any length of time; and b) were only welcome in one public space; The only meal provided at the hotel was a (good) breakfast but that had to be taken at a table set up outside the dining room as the dog wasn't permitted in the dining room. Not having dogs in the dining room is not unreasonable but as it couldn't be left in the room for half an hour or so then a separate 'dog-friendly' dining room is not unreasonable either; so one doesn't have to eat one's breakfast with a constant stream of people going, and in some cases, pushing past. Also, the obvious follow up to that for anyone who brings a dog is that, as restaurants generally don't admit dogs, then the only way to have dinner is to have a takeaway in the room - which although adequately furnished as a bedroom was really not suitable as a dining area (no tables, crockery, cutlery etc) - so take heed dear reader, unless you consider leaving the dog in the car is a good idea then you can't have a civilized dinner. Also, if one has booked for a concert, which generally doesn't admit dogs, then subject to leaving Rover in the car then someone has to miss out. The score out of 5 above only recognizes 2 - poor , or 3 - average. 2.5 would be my score if the template permitted.
