Anything negative is constructive criticism as we have loved our break. Great location, really central. Lovely positive staff but tone it down a little. Love the wine hour but please remove the plastic plants from the garden room...a 5 star hotel doesn't need plastic plants. Room smashing, Bleona tip- toed around us and got our room organised... Really grateful. Staff very caring, I hurt my knee and they couldn't have been more considerate. This is a lovely place to stay and I hope to be back. X

“Great location and Facilities”

Stayed here for four nights, enjoyed it very much. Edinburgh is a very walkable city and this hotel is in a great location. Literally around the corner from Rose St. which lined with pubs, shops and restaurants. Easy walk ~20 minute walk to the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle and the Grassmarket area.… more

Stayed here for four nights, enjoyed it very much. Edinburgh is a very walkable city and this hotel is in a great location. Literally around the corner from Rose St. which lined with pubs, shops and restaurants. Easy walk ~20 minute walk to the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle and the Grassmarket area. Staff is very friendly, facilities are great - especially the fitness area (heated pool, steam room, etc.). Highly reccommend.

Charming Stay in the Heart of Edinburgh – Kimpton Charlotte Square We had a wonderful stay at Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel and would absolutely return. The location is excellent—very central and easy to walk to many areas, with Uber or taxis readily available when needed. The surrounding scenery is beautiful, and we especially loved being so close to Rose Street, with its lively bars and great atmosphere. The hotel itself is incredibly charming. The ambiance is thoughtfully designed, with lush greenery, stylish décor, and so many unique details—it’s clear a lot of care went into creating such a warm and inviting space. Breakfast was very good, and the restaurant spaces are stunning—you almost feel like you’re dining in a museum. Dinner at Baba Restaurant Edinburgh was one of the best meals we had on this entire trip—absolutely excellent food. The bar was also a highlight; the bartenders were fun, witty, and very knowledgeable, which made the experience even better. My son, who is really into weight training, loved the gym. We didn’t get to enjoy the spa since we didn’t bring swimsuits, but it looked great. We booked through the American Express Hotel Collection, which included a $100 per night credit. We were able to use all of it at the restaurants and bars, which was a fantastic perk. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. A special thank you to Dean, who checked us in—he was especially helpful and made a great first impression. One challenge during our stay was that our rooms (166 and 275) were on the lower levels. We experienced noticeable noise from plumbing and people walking, especially at night. There was also window cleaning early in the morning, which added to the noise. If possible, we would recommend requesting a higher floor for a quieter experience. We didn’t get to explore as much of Edinburgh as we would have liked, but this stay definitely gave us a reason to come back.

First the good: Excellent location Spotless Great great health club with 2 story gym Large warm swimming pool to do laps in Sauna and steam Room Excellent customer service. Staff are all quite good and helpful. Mary the manager is extremely helpful and friendly Cons Very pricey for what is offered though this reflects what the local hotel market is. The facilities and location offered tend to offset this . This is really a 4.5 star not quite a 5. There is no driveway . When we arrived there were 4 of us with many suitcases . There was 1 staff person outside and he was only able to help one of us. At most hotels of this caliber you just leave the luggage and bellman bring it in. This does not happen here . If the room is not ready they store it and bring it up later . If you want to call a room from the lobby you have to go up to the desk and use one of the staff phones . There are no “ house” phones. Rooms are nice but not luxurious. There is adequate space but the standard rooms are on the small side. Beds are very comfortable. This hotel does not have that luxury feeling like you have say at the Pricipe di Savoia in Milan but prices are similar. We have enjoyed our stay but feel these things could be improved to justify the price point of over US $ 600 per night.
