Absolute, fabulous service by both front counter and restaurant team. We booked for 5 nights and 6 days and all throughout our stay, the service was perfect. Upon check in on our first night, the front counter clerk upgraded us to a suite for all 5 nights of our stay, because of our member status. The suite was beautiful and very large with a chandelier! We enjoyed the upgrade very much and it was the pinnacle of our visit. Breakfast every morning was equally as perfect as we enjoyed the eggs Benedict's with smoked salmon and omelette with whatever filling we wanted. We were so full every day that we skipped lunch! The fresh melon, watermelon and pineapple was very much the other highlight of our visit. Eduart was always there every morning to greet us with his warm smile and bubbly personality. His attentiveness to our needs brought warmth to the cold Scottish mornings. We were especially impressed by the kitchen team the last morning's breakfast as we ordered two eggs Benedict's with smoked salmon but when the two Benedict's came, the salmon was missing. We raised this to the tall, brunette lady staff and she reimbursed us with two platefuls of smoked salmon! 😍😍 We were able to use this plate of salmon to eat with porridge and croissant. On our last day at the hotel, my dad who seldom bothers to review anything, asked for paper and pen from the reception and wrote a full A4 paper review of the restaurant team. I have attached a photo of this handwritten review. Highly recommend this hotel both to stay and for food especially breakfast!

“Nice hotel”

Nice building with spacious rooms. Location is very close to city center and behind a hill so no noise from busy center. We specially enjoyed the green garden and the nice staff at the breakfast table.

Great location - away from the noise, crowds and traffic of the city center, but only a ten- fifteen minute walk to the Old Town. Wonderful walking paths behind the hotel/up the hill. Reception staff very good, and helpful. Room - we got a king suite on the ground floor (ie, in the basement, but it did have windows onto a garden) which was nice and roomy, though a rather odd layout, and tho the main part of the room was clean, the areas behind furniture and curtains had a lot of dust and debris. Breakfast - very good selection of high quality foods, both hot and cold, and made-to-order oatmeal was perfect. Breakfast staff were a mixed lot - some great, others rather cold.

Stayed at the Voco as part of an Easy Jet holiday this May bank holiday. Did look at booking separately but was just as expensive. Firstly the hotel is in an excellent location and great if you do not have a car with you to get to the city centre. The issue is the hotel rooms themselves and amount paid for what was essentially a tiny box room. I appreciate it was a bank holiday and the marathon so prices hiked but this was a tad excessive. The first room we were shown was room 3 in the basement which was tiny, had little natural light, a window that overlooked a hole and the smell of damp which was over powering. I found the room to be exceptionally claustrophobic and it stank. After raising my concerns we were kindly moved to a room upstairs. Whilst I appreciate the hotel was busy, this room, room 33 the room was barely bigger than the double bed in it. Sat right under the stairs so was noisy and there were scuff marks on walls and furniture I’d assume because it was impossible to move freely around the room due to its tiny size. For a 4 star hotel I’d have expected all rooms to be 4 star and not just some. This is in no way a 4 star hotel. Whilst clean I was soo sad and disappointed again for the cost and what we got. It was not good value nor fair at all. Breakfast was good. Basic but tasty buffet style. Just soo disappointed with the room and the extreme overpricing here. Same with bar prices be careful!
