“Nice hotel, convenient for concert”

Nice hotel, convenient location for concert at Bellahouston Park, was within walking distance, although a slightly longer walk. Nice room, spacious, for 3 people.

Lovely Hotel and ideal for the Hydro. Ironically when all the guests come down for drinks before heading to the show there was a huge queue as there was only one Bar Staff on and three other staff trying to run the restaurant and get drinks from the bar for the Restaurant! It spoiled a good stay as the staff and room were exceptional. Having one Barman to deal with the expected numbers for pre drinks is crazy!! Poor lad did his best , as did the Restaurant Staff but there was a huge queue and even when we had food in the restaurant and ordered drinks, the system was slow due to lack of Bar Staff, such a shame. Came back to Hotel after Gig but huge queue again so just went to bed.

“Perfect for the OVO!”

Brilliant location for the OVO Hydro, literally a minutes walk away. Perfect to drop back into the hotel after seeing a show and avoiding the crowds. Brilliant location for the OVO Hydro, literally a minutes walk away. Perfect to drop back into the hotel after seeing a show and avoiding the crowds. Only a 25 min walk into central Glasgow also to enjoy drinks beforehand. Lovely stay and had a river view, couldn’t fault it although when they tell you it’s a 24hr bar you can only get bottled lager/cider and take back to your room.

“No TV- Judgemental Clientele”

We stayed for one night in the Courtyard by Marriott at the SEC in Glasgow. Firstly, parking at the hotel is in the multi-storey car park that service SEC, Hydro, and Armadillo attendees. The car park is extremely expensive. The hotel will validate your parking ticket which gives you 50% off. Ridiculously, if you should leave the multi-storey and return, you have to pay the fee for duration your car is the car park before every exit, rather than a blanket 24 hour fee. I suggest booking to Doubletree by Hilton situated across the road. Parking facilities are miles better and cheaper. Upon checking in, the receptionist informed us the there was a “bit of an issue with the tv is everyone” and that “they are aware of the problem”. Up to our room. We were staying with our two young children and so had a family room. The room was beautiful. Clean, spacious with two double beds (one was a fold out). It was a corner room with dual aspect windows. The shower room was in equally good condition. The issue with the tv was that it was unwatchable. We attempted to cast from our devices but the internet (WiFi) was inadequate to support this. We attempted to pay for “enhanced” WiFi only to learn that this was down too. This should have resulted in a discounted rate, and been made very clear in advance of stay. We had a knock on the door just after 11pm on a Saturday night. Not the fault of the staff member, but they came to say they had received a noise complaint from the room below us. Sadly, a downstairs neighbour had chosen ignorance over tolerance. We were already exceptionally stressed trying manage a situation with our young children- both of whom have additional support needs. Factually speaking, the noise only lasted for 15 minutes at the most. While we can understand that noise might be an inconvenience, it is a tragic indictment that a very short spell of noise couldn’t be tolerated. Being chastised essentially had us wanting to leave the premises as we worried we might breathe too loudly. Short of never leaving our house, it is unpredictable and unavoidable that we may cause some short period of noise. The next day, we were more than an hour before our check out time and a housekeeper burst through without knocking. This gave the children a fright. If you are looking for a lovely hotel room in close proximity to the SEC campus, and you don’t mind overpaying for car parking; having tv; having poor internet connection; being at the behest of ignoramus fellow guests- then this is the place to go. Staff were polite and doing their best.
