“A hotel for right-handed people!”

I stayed here for one night and, overall, it was a decent experience but with a few unexpected quirks. The location is excellent, right on George Square and within easy walking distance of almost everything you might need, including Glasgow's two main railway stations. Queen Street is less than five minutes away, while Central Station is also just a short walk. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful at both check-in and check-out. My room was clean, the bathroom was spotless, and there were plenty of towels provided. That said, there were a few things that surprised me. The room was certainly compact! I was travelling alone and had a double bed, but even as a solo traveller it felt quite cosy. If two people were sharing the room, they might need to agree on a traffic management system! The bathroom has frosted glass walls, which provide privacy, but it might still be better suited to couples than to friends sharing a room. When booking, I was given the option of paying extra for a room with a window rather than one without, so I chose the former. I was a little disappointed to discover that the "window" overlooked an internal public area of the hotel. Unless the blinds were kept closed, people walking past from the lifts or corridors could see straight into the room. As a result, I had the blinds down for stay, which left me wondering exactly what I'd paid extra for. The biggest surprise, though, was what I jokingly came to think of as a bathroom designed for right-handed people! As a left-hander, I instinctively picked up my toothbrush with my left hand, only to find my elbow immediately hitting the wall. The sink is very small (think 'compact' again!!) and positioned right up against the shower wall, leaving no room to use your left hand comfortably. The same thing happened when I tried to shave. It's hardly a major issue, but it did make me smile. Overall, I didn't dislike my stay. The hotel has plenty going for it, especially its excellent location, friendly staff, and cleanliness. It also has a few unusual design choices that may or may not bother you, depending on what you're looking for. If you're happy with a compact room and don't mind an internal-facing window, you'll probably have a perfectly pleasant stay. As for me, I'm not sure I'd return - but I have learned one thing: if I'm ever asked whether I'd like a room with a window, I'll definitely be asking a few more questions first!

This hotel was booked on my behalf for a business trip. The reception staff are friendly and efficient and you cannot argue about its excellent location.
