The cottage is dated and in need of not only some TLC but a major review of the housekeeping standards. I read the reviews and thought they were mixed but I took some cleaning bits from home in case I needed them. I inspected the cottage before I unpacked the car and thought it was OK, seemed cleaned enough, closer inspection of under the bed sheets and I got the car vac out to lift the odd hair, and gave the fridge a needed once over with a wipe. Settled in, apartment itself is beautiful, view spectacular, had a great sleep. Next morning, noticed water marks on the bathroom furnishings (before I used it) and dust/hair in corners that should've been cleaned by housekeeping, liquid spills down doors, grease on the hob, stains on place mats, badly smudged marks and hand prints on windows and patio doors, to name a few. Nothing I couldn't give a once over as I figured I got a cracking deal through Groupon for a 2 night stay in a 2 bed cottage, which on the whole, considering the location and view, is amazing, so I can't complain in the grand scheme. But that's not the point. Housekeeping need to seriously up their game. Attention to detail and improve the cleaning standards, Kenmore; the view alone won't keep your clients coming back. I love the area and will return but will find different accommodation and won't recommend to friends & family.

“Tired!”

We've just returned from a 3 day break here. The location is lovely and peaceful with some lovely walks in the area. When we arrived at 14.20 we were fully aware that check in was at 16.00hrs but normally in most establishments if your accommodation is ready you're given access. We went through all of the check in process and then the receptionist told me that there was an 'early check in fee' of £20! I can understand a late check out fee but I've never had to pay an early one and to me this is just profiteering. We went to a pub and spent the money there instead. Our apartment was spotlessly clean and well appointed. However, since our last visit, 3 years ago, they are looking tired with dated furnishings, woodwork requiring a coat of paint and kitchen units showing their age. We had an issue with our fan oven on the first night due to a blown element. Unfortunately there were no spares available ( its a standard consumables item) and the maintenance team had to resort to transferring an oven from another apartment. Better than the receptionists initial suggestion that we go to another apartment to cook our dinner and then take it back to our apartment. Despite the above we did enjoy our stay.
