Location is excellent although it took us over an hour to find a parking space due to no car park, however there is one a few yards down but fills very quickly as other hotels are surrounding. We found the hotel under staffed especially when trying to get into the hotel at night time, I rang the door 3 times and ended up having to wake my wife to come down and open the front door. The breakfast is average at best, diluted orange juice instead of fresh and one person doing everything the poor girl looked run off her feet. Our room The Old Course was a junior suite which is a great size but the bathroom shower needed re grouted and the room wasn’t cleaned between days, no fresh towels and no toilet roll and wasn’t very clean as we found hairs on the toilet floor. The bedroom side lamps were completely different to each other so it looked like someone had just quickly miss matched them. Overall the stay was ok but I think to be classed as 5* it really needs to make a lot of improvements, I think next time we would look to stay elsewhere due to the above.

Really disappointing, incredibly average hotel, with too few, over-worked staff. Numerous issues with our room- it was an executive suite and should have been pretty luxurious, not bang average to poor. The wooden bathroom door needed shaving down- it wouldn’t shut and once literally forced shut, gave a serious risk of being locked in. The bedroom tv didn’t work, presumably a remote control battery issue. The coffee machine sometimes worked, somethings not. There was no kettle to make tea. The radiator in the bathroom was grimy and dusty. Breakfast was really poor. Only one member of staff trying to look after reception and all the guests and one member of staff in the kitchen. We arrived 20 minutes before the end of breakfast and there was almost nothing left to the continental breakfast except some pastries, no butter, no alternative milk options, half a portion of fruit salad. If breakfast is 8-10, there should be plenty of availability throughout that time. In an expensive hotel, a self service paper cup coffee machine is just poor. On the plus side, really centrally located and a very comfortable bed, but this wasn’t enough to off set all the other issues. I’ve never written a hotel review before- but this one was really pretty dreadful value for money.
